In Monster studios, Brighton, 23rd Feb 09. Bela and I played together a few times in 2006 but we were joined at every gig by Mr. Ground Loop Hum whose presence ultimately resulted in the shelving of future gigs. Shame. Now since she's got a new cello, I have a new machine and Mr. G. L. Hum has been evicted, we will be doing some more shows together.

Most significant international events don't have a pre-warning but this one did, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to mash it up live with my live remix/mashup/improv machine which I made. It's all improvised using the BBC world service live web stream. Unfortunately the web stream flaked out at the beginning of his speech so I had to start part way in. MONKEY JAZZ Combining the talents of 2 times UK Beatbox Champion Beardyman [ http://www.beardyman.co.uk ]and master of the edit mr_hopkinson [ http://davidhopkinson.org ], this is a one take performance by Beardyman using live looping technology that has been visually explained and augmented by mr_hopkinson's edit and animation. Here's an uptempo set, it's not finished yet. I trigger drumkits within Ableton Live with the M-Audio trigger finger, I record the drums into an empty clip slot and then add layers of sound on top of the drums. I also use the crossfader within Live which is assigned to a number of tracks ...very cool feature. p.s. Scratching in 90 degree weather SUCKS!!!
