Cthulhu Podcast: Yog RadioVision - Living Dungeon 2008 Video
from Yog-Sothoth.com : Cthulhu Podcast June 03, 2008
A bit of a departure for this one (well, I guess we could really streeetch it to say it might be Cthulhu Dark Ages-related). What we have here is a video recording made at the recent UK Games Expo 2008, where members of YSDC and RPGMP3 got the opportunity to enter the 'Living Dungeon' (The Lair of the Necromancer). So here's your chance to see a little bit of what we got up to after donning quasi-medieval garb and entering the bowels of a transformed Birmingham Library. Regular listeners to various audio games may recognise a few familiar voices... Recorded at UK Games Expo 2008, Birmingham, UK (31st May, 2008) Run Time: 00:06:11 72 MB MP4 file.

DN LFF07: Import Export - Ulrich Seidl
from Directors Notes January 29, 2008
Amidst the two weeks of screenings and events that was The Times BFI 51st London Film Festival sat the calm oasis of the filmmakers breakfasts, which along with being a perfect opportunity to load up on coffee and croissants for the day, meant that I got to speak to some of the directors with their films fresh in mind. Second in our series of LFF interviews is director Ulrich Seidl who is known for tackling material that rarely pulls its punches. Such is the case with Import Export, an unflinching portrait of New Europe and two individuals who do their best to forge a life there. Showlinks Import Export London Film Festival

from Directors Notes December 21, 2007
Along with the great selection of films you d expect to see, the Times BFI 51st London Film Festival, presented Power to the Pixel - The Digital Distribution Forum for Independents. Festival Director Sandra Hebron, introduced lead advocates and practitioners of digital distribution, along with filmmakers currently making digital distribution work for them. Perhaps the most well known example of a film utilising the possibilities afforded by the digital revolution on all fronts is Four Eyed Monsters, I dragged the film s creators Arin and Susan away from the post conference party for a Directors Notes interview. DN EP 064: What a Freegan Waste - Craig Rook
from Directors Notes November 28, 2007
Whilst trying to squeeze in as many films as possible at the recent Filmstock festival, I managed to tear myself away from the screen and grab a few words with filmmaker Craig Rook, whose film What a Freegan Waste was screening as part of the Short Docs session. The film takes an in-depth look at the Freegan lifestyle in both the US and UK and investigates how the individuals involved with this movement are taking matters in to their own hands, to help the fight against environmental destruction. I asked Craig about his shooting methods, the differences with filming in the US & UK and why he chose the Freegans as his subject. Darkon - Andrew Neel and Luke Meyer
from Directors Notes November 06, 2007
Darkon (2006) DARKON is a documentary feature that follows the real-life adventures of an unusual group of weekend “warrior knights,” fantasy role-playing gamers whose live action “battleground” is modern-day Baltimore, Maryland, re-imagined as a make-believe medieval world named Darkon. These live action gamers combine the physical drama of historical re-enactments with character-driven storylines inspired in part by such perennial favorite fantasy epics as the legends of King Arthur, Lord of the Rings, and the saga of Conan the Barbarian. As role players, these gamers create alter-egos with rich emotional, psychological, and social lives. They costume themselves and physically act out their characters’ exploits both in intimate court intrigue and campouts and in panoramic battle scenarios involving competitive strategies, convincingly real props, and full contact “combat.” Bookmark to:

DN EP 059: Tovarisch I Am Not Dead - Stuart Urban
from Directors Notes October 28, 2007
Stuart Urban could be said to have pretty much been born a director, with his first film, The Virus of War screened at Cannes 1973 when he was just 13, making him the youngest filmmaker to play the festival. He s also won BAFTAs for his BBC tragicomedy about the Falklands War, An Ungentlemanly Act, as well as for his work on the critically acclaimed series Our Friends in the North. His latest film Tovarisch I Am Not Dead, is an exploration into the life his father Garri Urban, survivor of the Holocaust and Gulag and author of the autobiographical book of the same title, as together they revisit the sites of his horrors and triumphs, 50 years later.
