A lioness killed a lichtenstein's hartebeest at Bandama Pan this morning and ate herself so full that she could hardly keep her eyes open.

The lions had killed this wildebeest bull at dawn and already well fed, this young male took it upon himself to try and drag the carcass, much the same weight as him, into the shade. The 20m drag took him a good 10mins of hard work but once in the shade and out of sight of vultures he had the rest of the day to feed at his own pace.

After 2 days the lions have all but finished off their buffalo kill. With stomachs full and not much left they're still not prepared to share their spoils with the waiting vultures. A lioness tries this way and that to drag the carcass into the shade. She manages in small doses but eventually gives up.

So these two people raised this lion cub who they named Christian, and sadly he got too big for them to take care of so they decided to release him to live as a wild lion. I Am Zumwalt was there for the reunion.

With all the rain over the last few days the lions have had the buffalo carcass to themselves. Buy today as soon as the weather cleared the vultures came falling out the sky. The lion eventually has enough of the vultures devouring his prize and sends them packing. But how long can he keep them away as the day heats up?

I think Manyari and her youngsters followed vultures to this buffalo calf kill. It was probably killed by Magwaza as she was the only other lion present. Manyari fed well although she still had to fight with her youngsters for a place at the table. Well fed and looking in good spirits Manyari still religiously kept her wounds clean.

The Nduna pride killed a buffalo bull last night and all fed extremely well. By dawn they were still feeding and all day there was someone feeding. When the vultures got desperate from waiting all day and tried to sneak in at dusk they were soon chased off. The lions just weren't sharing. At sunset the vultures roosted in a nearby baobab as they wait out another hungry night.

Hyaenas had their time cut out feeding on the buffalo carcass left by the lions. They were constantly on the look out for the lions returning and whenever they backed off from the carcass the vultures would take over.

With the rest of the pride having left, the lioness stayed on to overload her stomach ion the giraffe kill. And even then tried to defend it from the hordes of vultures. Eventually the vultures won and cleaned up the carcass.
