As I Lay Dying - The Sound of Truth (guitar cover)
from YouTube :: Videos by killrbuckeye September 19, 2008
I was first introduced to this song by some guy talking trash about the simplicity of the songs Ive been covering. It turns out that I really like this song (and the band), so I decided to do my own version! The song is not terribly difficult, but there are some tricky parts. There is a very fast pull-off run in the chorus that I find tough to get clean, and other parts require very steady fast alternate picking, which is one of my weaknesses. Also, there is quite a bit of finger tapping in the song, so I had to break my bad habit of tapping with my index finger. After several painful days of tapping with my middle finger, I finally developed a callus! The solo involves a sweep tap, which is a technique I had never attempted before learning this song. Its a bit sloppy in places, but I'm tired of practicing the song over and over again (and so is my wife!), so here it is! I transcribed it by ear, and my Guitar Pro file is now available on my website (see link below). If you don't have Guitar Pro, please read the information about TuxGuitar on my website. The tuning is DROP D. Most songs on the album "An Ocean Between Us" are in drop C, but NOT THIS ONE. As usual I am recording directly to my computer using my relatively new Line 6 POD X3. I created a custom dual tone trying to get close to AILDs sound on this song. Its a blend of the Line 6 Modern High Gain (Soldano X88R) and the Treadplate 2001 (Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier). I will put the tone file on my website shortly so anyone with a POD X3 can use it. And before anyone asks: Yes, I am sun burnt (from golfing yesterday). For questions about my gear, recording method, playing history, tabs, please visit my website before asking me: http://www.killrbuckeye.com Thanks! Parkway Drive - Frostbite (guitar cover)
from YouTube :: Videos by killrbuckeye August 29, 2008
Another Parkway Drive song! Can you tell I'm really into this band right now? This song has some awesome riffs. I absolutely love the fast verse riff played with all down picking. While there's no solo, there's a very cool tapping lick over the breakdown parts. There's also a challenging riff in the middle with fast hammer-ons and pull-offs. You may notice my tone sounds different (hopefully better!) in the video. The reason is that I bought a POD X3 for my birthday (it was on August 1st), and I made a custom tone trying to duplicate as closely as possible PWD's sound. I think I got it pretty close. Let me know what you think. The tab for this song is now on my website! Thanks to musicman1066 for sending me his tab, which saved me a lot of time! Parkway Drive - Idols and Anchors (guitar cover)
from YouTube :: Videos by killrbuckeye August 09, 2008
I'm doing another Parkway Drive song. This song has a cool tapping interlude. I'm using my pick instead of my finger to get it to ring out more clearly. There's also a nice little solo at the end. The rest of the song is pretty straightforward. Some down picking speed is required for the verse riff though. Note that there is an odd stop/start transition you will hear because it is impossible to go seamlessly into the tapping part from the chorus riff. I transcribed the song by ear and my tab is available on my website or Ultimate-Guitar.com. If you don't have Guitar Pro, please read the info about TuxGuitar (free program) on the tab page of my website. http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information about my recording method, gear, playing history, etc. Author: KillrBuckeye Keywords: parkway drive idols and anchors pwd horizons cover metal solo Buckeye Ohio State washburn x50 pro POD Line6 line shred Added: August 9, 2008

Parkway Drive - Five Months (guitar cover)
from YouTube :: Videos by killrbuckeye July 25, 2008
I tuned my Washburn X50 Pro FE to drop B (that's the low E tuned down 2.5 steps, and the rest of the strings tuned down 1.5 steps) so I could jam along with some Parkway Drive. This is one of my favorite songs from their album "Horizons". This song was actually a bit harder for me than I thought it would be, because my alternate picking across strings is a bit sloppy. However, I think I got it down pretty good. There's a cool little solo near the end of the song. YouTube is automatically applying compression (WAY too much) to the audio, making it sound like crap IMO. It is also making the audio and video go a bit out-of-sync. The original video file sounds great and plays perfectly in-sync on my computer, so it's out of my control. :/ One thing that helps is to click the "high quality" link below the video. This song was relatively easy to transcribe by ear, but I have to thank musicman1066 for pointing out a few mistakes in my original transcription. He has a a great ear. As always, I'm recording directly to my computer through a Line 6 POD 2.0. The tab is now available on my website. It has also been accepted at Ultimate-Guitar. Please rate my tab on U-G (it's the ver2 Guitar Pro tab). Enjoy! http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information on my gear, recording method, playing history, etc. on the site. All That Remains - Not Alone (guitar cover)
from YouTube :: Videos by killrbuckeye July 05, 2008
I'm playing along with the song "Not Alone" by All That Remains. The solo took me a while to transcribe and get up to speed due to the odd tapping/sliding transitions. You will notice a transition in the video just before the solo. This is because I put two takes together instead of trying to play the song perfectly in one shot. Throughout most of this song there are two distinct guitar parts, and I am only playing one of these parts. For this reason, my recorded guitar may sound a bit different than what you're accustomed to hearing from the album track. If you pan the album track all the way to the left or right, you will hear these two distinct guitar parts. I transcribed this song entirely by ear, as all of the existing tabs I could find were atrocious. The tuning is D standard and I playing my ESP KH-2 through a Line 6 POD 2.0. The tab is now available on my website! http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information on my gear, recording method, playing history, etc. on the site.
