OVERVIEW: Saints Row 2 is an upcoming sandbox-style action-adventure video game for Xbox360, Microsoft Windows, and PS3. Saints Row 2 is the second game in the Saints Row franchise. It is being developed by Volition, published by THQ and is due for release October 2008. PLOT: The game is set 5 years after the end of Saints Row. The protagonist barely survived a boat explosion devised by former Saints, and has wasted away in a dingy prison hospital, in a trauma-induced coma. Meanwhile, the 3rd Street Saints have fallen apart, Johnny has been captured by police and awaits the electric chair, Troy has become Chief of Police and Julius has abandoned his gang and is determined to live the quiet life. Lin is dead, and Dex is missing and has not been seen by anybody. It is unknown whether he is alive or not. Three new gangs control Stilwater, who have some secret alliance with the Ultor Corporation. After this time, the protagonist wakes up and meets a Hispanic fellow inmate, who recognises the protagonist and helps him/her escape from prison. In a bloody prison break, the protagonist and his/her friend find a speedboat, and successfully escape from the island. They arrive in Stilwater, only to find that it has been completely revolutionized. As the protagonist settles in, he finds that his old friend Johnny is on death row. The protagonist helps Johnny escape his courtroom precession and the Hispanic inmate introduces them to his friends, who are very willing to work under the protagonist and rebuild the Saints. The Saints now operate underneath an abandoned hotel, determined to rise against the key factions that have since set out to eliminate them forever. GAMEPLAY: The game will include additional weather effects. Pedestrians will be much more responsive to both environmental stimuli (such as opening umbrellas at the sign of rain) to possibly crowding around someone that has just been shot, allowing the player to use the distraction to get away. Alternatively, the player can attempt to use other characters in the game as human shields, and can either kill the person with a headshot, or throw them away. Saints Row was well-noted for its dark humour, and such has returned in Saints Row 2. It has also been stated that the police force will no longer use spike strips, instead relying on tactics and firepower to subdue the enemy. Car physics have been stated to be majorly improved from those seen in Saints Row. Crashing, braking, turning etc has developed, with use of the rebooted physics engine. MULTIPLAYER: Saints Row 2 includes the addition of a co-op mode, allowing players to converse in the storyline from beginning to end over either Online play or through a system link. Not much information has been released about Saints Row 2 in regards to multiplayer, but the games designers have said that it will be similar to the old game and that they have "learned a lot from the first game and won't be making any of the same mistakes again." Critics said it was a step too far in China's obsession with the perfect Olympic Games. Beijing organizers of the games faced tough criticism Wednesday after a whistleblower revealed that the 9-year-old who performed a song during the spectacular opening ceremony was lip-synching to another girl's vocal track. Yang Peiyi, a 7-year-old with bright eyes and a smile made crooked by the stubs of her first grown-up teeth, was heard by an audience estimated in the billions during Friday night's ceremony, singing Ode to the Motherland. But they never saw her face. Organizers passed the song off as being sung by Lin Miaoke, another perky schoolgirl who donned a sparkly red dress and soared on wires above the 91,000-strong crowd at the Bird's Nest stadium. Beijing officials on Wednesday defended the decision to use both girls, saying the artistic directors could cast whoever they saw fit. And they were unapologetic about keeping the lip-synch a secret. There were a number of candidates to sing that song and at the end of the day the artistic directors picked the best voice and the best performer, Beijing organizing committee spokesman Sun Weide said. Wang Wei, executive vice president of the organizing committee, said the job of the ceremony's directors was to achieve the most theatrical effect. I don't see there is anything wrong with it if everybody concerned agrees, he said. But the world's press ridiculed the move on front pages from Romania to Australia. The counterfeit Games: designed to look good from every angle, said a headline in The Times of London. The Daily Telegraph urged organizers of the 2012 London Games to bring some sanity and proportion back to both the opening ceremony and the games themselves. In Spain, one newspaper called it Olympic karaoke. A commentator for The Age newspaper in Australia called it the great Beijing lip-synch switcheroo and news on the incident was headlined China's wrong child policy. The Romanian daily 7Plus ran this on its front page: Hoax! Made in China. Baltimore Sun reporter Jill Rosen said the switch was hardly the first case of lip-synching, but was possibly the cruelest. It was China's "coming out" party, and the organizers $300 million was well-spent. The results showed in China Olympian Li Ning's levitating speed-skater style "walk" around Olympic Stadium and his lighting of a giant torch, which in turn caused what had to be the largest fireworks display in the history of the Olympic Games, if not the World. A spectacle that looked tremendous, and even animated, and that's because it was. The organizers of the event admitted that computer graphics were used to "replace" the actual fireworks images because the fear was that the "haze" -- read: smog -- was so bad that a great camera shot of the pyrotechnics would have not been possible. Still, it was controversial because it took away from the overall historic effort and also took the wind out of the sails of the China Olympics, and sadly. I write that because regardless of that country's problems, we're all fans of the Olympics and want to see it go well. Period. But what was done reminded me of the movie "Wag The Dog". That flick, which starred Robert De Nero and Dustin Hoffman, was about a war that was staged on a television set and never happened at all. With China's actions, we're a massive step closer to that possible occurence. Toward Laws Preventing This In The Future I think we need to craft a series of International Laws to prevent or at least discourage (which is the best we can do) the occurence of the use of digital technology in this way. An angel face 9 years old Chinese girl Lin Miao-Ke was chosen to performing a Chinese patriotic song at the Beijing Olympic games nest stadium during the grand opening ceremony on August 8th evening. Not only her pretty face but also her innocence singing touched the nest stadium audience and millions people in front of their TV set. The truth was revealed by media, there was another less pretty 7 years old girl Yang Pei-Yi sang for Lin in the background. Lin only pretended to sing that song by mouth matching the lyrics at the precise rhythm. The party director Zhang explained that arrangement was for representing the perfect image of China yet it's not a big deal. Shame on their cheating behavior which indeed fooled a lot of people and certainly insulted the China government consequently. Chinese officials apparently dumped a girl from singing at the opening ceremony based on looks. CNN's John Vause reports. A little girl and her song captivated millions of viewers during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. But what they saw was not what they heard. Games organizers confirm that Lin Miaoke was not singing at all. Lin was lip-syncing to the sound of 7-year-old Yang Peiyi, who apparently was deemed not cute enough for TV.

An example of the lengths Beijing has taken to project a perfect image for China during the Olympics. A 7-year-old girl was replaced after officials deemed her face was not suitable for the opening ceremony. Instead, an older girl with a perfect smile lip-synced the words to Ode to the Motherland, which had been recorded by the youngster.
