Here we have the Sony Playstation 3 60GB model, a $600 investment, dead after 13 months. After spending over an hour on the phone with Sony s tech support, I was told that there is nothing they can do, even though my warranty expired just one month ago. My only option is to pay $150 for a refurbished model, which will only be covered for 90 days. I then talked to a manager, and asked him about Sony s warranty being extended to February 29th, 2008. He said this is true, although it only covers the 20GB and 60GB models purchased in November and December of 2006. My 60 GB Playstation 3 was purchased on January 3 2007, 3 days after December. Sony will not replace my Playstation 3, despite the problem being completely random and due to hardware defects. Thanks Sony

On my website are some instructions for converting a web cam to for cheap, easy infrared photography. Basically, all digital cameras are capable of detecting infrared radiation just outside of the visible spectrum. That is to say light with a longer wavelength than the red end of the spectrum. With some slight modification we can filter out the visible light and let through the infrared light. This will not allow you to do thermal imaging, which is done in the far infra red.The web cam I used was designed for use in low light. It includes six IR LEDs. More importantly, since it was designed to work with IR LEDs it lacks the IR filter that most digital cameras include. The IR filter found in digital cameras helps keep colors more consistent at all light levels. Consequently it blocks most of the light we're interested in for this project. A quick Google Search will reveal several places that sell the exact same camera I used (some for under $10).

The Merczateers have had a rough and long history, a course that has taken it from the sim of Clear, passing through Isere, Adscita, Gangwon and Hjalmer. In all of these sims the group has had different interesting and challenging experiences that has defined and assisted it in reaching it's current level of proficiency. The Merczateer's current sim is Badnarik. It represents the highest, greatest and most powerful time of all the group's existence. Since moving into Badnarik, the Merczateers have established a solid air force, exceeding the air power of any other army. The organizational system has been refined and training has been improved. The active member count also has risen to phenomenal levels, and new weapons, gear and vehicles roll out of the factories and labs on a daily basis. On this day, we consider ourselves the premier military faction in Second Life. Although we've had many hardships, the group has stood tall during each and every one of them. It's up to every single Merczateer to keep this group strong, and make it rise above the rest.

A couple of elephant bulls arrived at Simbiri dam at sunset. The low angle I was able to shoot from made it so much more real. When the herds didn't follow in time I turned to the last glow of the day to film the Marabou storks silhouetted standing on one leg.
