Prison Break ist eine US-amerikanische Fernsehserie, die von einem Ausbruch und der anschließenden Flucht aus dem Gefängnis Fox River State Penitentiary handelt. Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) versucht dabei, seinen unschuldig zum Tode verurteilten Bruder Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) aus dem Gefängnis zu befreien. Die Serie wurde zum ersten Mal am 29. August 2005 auf dem US-Fernsehsender Fox ausgestrahlt. Die letzte Folge der dritten Staffel wurde am 18. Februar 2008 in den USA ausgestrahlt. Trotz fallender Quoten hat FOX nun bestätigt, dass es eine vierte Staffel, deren Produktion im Mai 2008 beginnen soll, geben wird.[1] Von 7. Juni bis 30. August 2007 zeigte SF zwei die erste Staffel als deutschsprachige Erstausstrahlung. Am 21. Juni 2007 hat RTL ebenfalls mit der Ausstrahlung der ersten Staffel begonnen. Beide Sender strahlten die zweite Staffel vom 4. Oktober 2007 bis 28. Februar 2008 (SF zwei) bzw. 6. März 2008 (RTL) aus. Prison Break wird außerdem auf dem Westschweizer Sender TSR im Zweikanalton (Englisch/Französisch) ausgestrahlt. Dieser Tonträger enthält harte Texte. Die Interpreten unter anderem durch Provokation gesellschaftliche Missstände thematisieren; dazu benutzen sie zum Beispiel Spot, Hohn, Verzerrung und Überspitzung als künstlerische Stilmittel. Die Künstler gebrauchen hierfür die Umgangssprache des Umfeldes aus dem sie stammen. Die harten Texte sind nicht immer wörtlich zu nehmen, sondern dienen auch der Unterhaltung. Viele Äußerungen und Metaphern entspringen dem Wettbewerbscharakter der Jugendkultur. Grundlegende Intention dieses Wettbewerbs ist es, Konflikte nicht physisch, sondern verbal auszutragen. Wir weisen darauf hin, dass keiner der aus diesem Tonträger vertretenen Künstler zu kriminellen Handlungen oder Gewalt aufruft. Keine der enthaltenen Aussagen soll Menschen aufgrund ihrer Herkunft oder ihrer Geschlechts oder sonst wie diskriminieren oder pauschalisierend abwerten.
