Our hostess Joan Keyser de L pez, a long-time resident of Madrid, introduces us to a comfortable bistro-style restaurant located in one of the city s most select shopping and gallery hopping districts and that was once an artists haunt. La Corralada offers good, simple fare in a space that is all about atmosphere. Joan s menu favorites include the liver and onions, since this is practically the only place in town where you can get them , and the beef bourginon. Other delicious options include homemade meatballs, a suggestive omelette with Gruy re cheese, or batter-fried cauliflower. Among some of the treasures to be found on the walls are a portrait of Modigliani signed by the artist, a dedication by Mir , photos of Marilyn Monroe, jazz musicians, local painters, and original posters from art exhibits in New York, Paris, and Madrid.
