Kuku is a small village just north of Suva, Fiji. Recently the residents uncovered evidence of an ancient village site next door, perhaps several thousands years old, distinguished by its four rings of ditch fortifications, old stone and iron tools and pottery shards. We also saw a Lovo Pit - a traditional earth oven dug into the ground - where human bones were found, evidence of cannibalism. The villagers are trying to do up the site and open it up to visitors. I was part of a group led by the Fiji Museum to give the village eleders some feedback on what they can do to improve the experience.The villagers were immensely kind, welcoming and open to all my questions and comments. This 4 min film is the first time I'm using subtitles.
