Ken Moelis, CEO, Moelis & Co.: The Deal's Private Capital Symposium
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 14, 2008
Kenneth D. Moelis, Chief Executive Officer, Moelis & Co., was the first keynote interview at the The Deal's Fifth Annual Private Capital Symposium, May 15, 2008. "I think the cycle in the late 1980s and the current one were very similiar," Moelis said. "There was a tremendous amount of liquidity in the 1980s, and deal multiples did get driven into excess. But they were restricted to one firm, so when the crisis hit it was restricted to one firm, Drexel." For complete coverage, visit TheDeal.com for live updates from the event.

The Deal: Private Capital Symposium 2008
from PodTech.net: Technology and Entertainment Network - Powered by PodTech April 24, 2008
The private capital markets are in an intriguing position. The economy is sluggish after last year s sub-prime mess and major buyout firms have not seen a lot of action. That was expected. But the middle markets have only dropped off slightly. In this podcast John Morris, assistant managing editor at The Deal, speaks with PodTech s Jason Lopez about what makes the middle markets different. These and other issues are the subject of the upcoming Private Capital Symposium 2008, hosted by The Deal (May 14 in New York City). The one-day conference will cover issues such as where opportunities exist in a struggling economy, how financing has changed, why the middle markets are okay, and what is happening with sovereign wealth funds. Keynote speakers include Tony James of The Blackstone Group and legendary investor Ken Moelis. Tags: Buyout, John Morris, equity, Ken Moelis, private capital, the deal, Tony James
