ROCORI Volleyball Team Opens With a Home Victory

*QUICKTIME *iPOD *CELL *You TubeThe ROCORI Spartans Volleyball team took to their home court as they looked to duplicate their regular season success in their first game of the playoffs. Although ROCORI was heavily favored, the team was not about to take the Litchfield Dragons team lightly. After a number of long volleys back and forth, the Spartans took control of the first game after coming up with a remarkable save in the far backcourt. Game two the Spartans continued their dominance as they put together a 6-point mini run early in the game. The Dragons could never regroup as they began to make mistakes and simply could not match ROCORI’s athleticism. Be sure to watch all of the highlights from this match and stay tuned to DigElog ROCORI for more Spartans’ playoff highlights. ************************************************** This story is sponsored by Bella Rosa Salon & Spa. Spartans Football Season Ends as They Lose to Little Falls
from DigElogROCORI on November 05, 2009

*QUICKTIME *iPOD *CELL *You Tube The ROCORI Spartans football team went into their playoff matchup against the Little Falls Flyers with more injuries than you could shake a stick at. For starters, the team had none of their starting linebackers from the season opener. Coupled with the broken hand suffered by senior quarterback Derek Lieser, the Spartans would be in for a tough game against their gritty opponents, the Little Falls Flyers. *QUICKTIME *iPOD *CELL *You TubeROCORI opened up sluggish on offense as Nate Meyer started at quarterback. Two sloppy plays later, Lieser came in and threw a strike to the normally sure-handed Eric Loxtercamp who then dropped the ball. That set the tone for ROCORI as they simply could not move the ball and were constantly fighting an uphill battle when it came to field position. Eventually, the Spartans would put together a scoring drive and take a 7-0 lead in the second quarter. However on the ensuing kickoff, ROCORI yielded a 60-yard return that would setup a short field for the Flyers. A few plays later the Flyers tied the score at 7-7. The turning point in the game may have taken place when ROCORI could not advance the ball deep in their own territory with under a minute left. Punting with under 30 seconds left, the Flyers got the ball on the ROCORI 24 yard line. Two plays later they cashed in another touchdown and led 14-7 at halftime. The second half was more of the same for both teams as the Flyers continued to pound the ball on the ground while ROCORI’s defense kept them from scoring until a big touchdown run put the game out of reach. Watch all of the highlights from both halves and be sure to stay tuned to DigElog ROCORI for more Spartans’ sports highlights. ***************************************** Special thanks to Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union who sponsored this story. Hyena Chop Stix: Video
from Wildcast - African bush adventures live-blogged to a screen near you on November 05, 2009

The dark clouds have been rolling in over Malilangwe, but with nothing more than the promise of rain. It is November already and anytime from mid-month onwards we can expect the down pours to start. I can still remember last year, when I was caught in a heavy storm and the water was flowing straight through my clothes as I cautiously navigated the muddy roads– it makes one feel like a kid playing in the rain. I’ve been getting some daily exercise walking up and down the hyena hill to check on the new den. I eventually found the two older mothers using a den right on the top of the hill in a different den than I thought previously. When I first spotted one of the older cubs roaming the hill I used my “special call” to attract their attention so they wouldn’t freak out by my presence. They came straight away to inspect and then strolled over to a crack in the rocks. I followed and took up a position on a nearby rock. One big mother then came out the den to see what new clan member had arrived; surprisingly, she was completely relaxed with me being there. I stayed for the morning to observed and take photos and get them used to me being around the new den. The hyenas and wild dogs had a huge confrontation South of Manyuchi two mornings ago, but nothing serious enough for them to eat each other. I received an update on Magwaza the lioness and her three cubs. They were hanging around Chitindigova Hill just North of Bandama Pan, always in the hills these lions, the cubs are growing strong and the ex-Nduna lioness is still mixed up with the pride with one other lioness. This unknown lioness seems to be lactating, which means there might be some more little ones on the way. It may be too soon to jump to conclusions, there is really no way to tell for sure, unless some mad person climbs into the hill to take a look. I think I might camp out in my vehicle over next few days to see what I can spot.
