Lors d'un débat organisé par l'association Dauphine Discussion Débat le 6 mai 2008 à l'université Paris Dauphine, M Villepin s'en prend à la presse, notamment aux relations ambigües ( consanguines ) entre la presse et la politique. Il dénonce l'esprit de cours qui règne et qui représente une véritable vérole . Selon lui, dans certain cas l'époque impériale, à bien des égards, paraissait beaucoup plus libre que parfois la lecture des quotidiens nationaux. . Il appelle à un retour à l'imagination, à la critique. Aujourd'hui la presse est comparale à de la pâtée pour chat selon ses propres mots. Il regrette aussi l'appropriation de ces médias par de grands groupes industriels. Will you help destroy our ability to control the government or will spread the news and demand that our rights to control the government are restored? Don t do anything if you don t value freedom and don t mind begging your masters for justice, and like another Adams said long ago, May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
