A world-beating UK DJ/producer, who is these days based out of Australia, with over two decades of dance to his name, the one and only Carl Cox chats to DJsounds Lorna Cole from Sands beach restaurant in Playa D en Bossa, Ibiza. In this interview he speaks out about Ibiza, hearing the true sound of Carl Cox and playing a different daytime sound, one that s packed full of soul and funk vibes. He also talks about passion, the accessibility of radio and his pumping Join Our Revolution party, held at what he calls the Rolls-Royce of clubs Space. Lorna then hooks up with Brazilian drum s Join Our Revolution events. Finally, we catch some words with Josh Wink, a longtime Carl Cox collaborator, who talks about DJing during Carl s big gigs and playing in the different rooms of Space.

Josh Wink fans, rejoice. Today is your day to have a rave flashback. UK dance rockers South Central are pushing their debut album The Owl of Minerva (out now on Egregore Music) with their latest single, "Higher State", which is a cover of Wink's classic "Higher State of Consciousness". I'm seriously getting psyched to see these guys perform here in the states. But until then, I guess we'll have to get thrown back into a mid-90's UK rave through the new album (which is fantastic and you should go pick up now!) and videos. South Central - Higher State

Josh Wink cut his teeth on the Philadelphia music scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s when crowds of eager dancers filled warehouses, entertained by deejays mixing tracks at parties that lasted into the early morning. Wink was an East Coast phenomenon until 1995 when three consecutive European hits launched him into the international spotlight, and he began spinning for dancers from London to Tokyo. Chris Mugan of London's Evening Standard said "Wink builds up and releases almost unbearable tension as he effortlessly moves from minimal house to tribal techno." Born Joshua Winkelman in 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wink was influenced by a range of musical styles, including early punk rock, rappers like Run-D.M.C., and the synthesized pop of Depeche Mode. When he was 13, Wink started working for a mobile deejay service. While playing music for parties around Philadelphia he met up with another Philadelphia deejay, King Britt. Mixing and recording on Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) equipment in their bedroom studios, the two released a single called "Tribal Confusion" under the name E-Culture in 1990. The track established their careers on the dance music scene.
