PdF2008 Talks: Elizabeth (and John) Edwards with Andrew Rasiej
from - blip.tv (beta) July 01, 2008
Elizabeth Edwards, wife of former Senator John Edwards, was planning to attend PdF2008 for a keynote conversation about politics, the media, and the impact of the internet on both. But bad weather caused the cancellation of her flights from North Carolina. So we improvised and did the interview by Skype video. About three-quarters of the way in, a surprise guest, her husband, walked by and joined in the conversation. Andrew Rasiej, the co-founder of Personal Democracy Forum, conducted the interview.

Barack Obama Pins Bush Economic Woes On John McCain & It Looks Like A Good Fit
from RetroVision Media June 10, 2008
The highlights are: A. Barack Obama's promises to Israel that he may have a difficult time honoring in the future. B. Barack Obama fires first salvo across John McCain's economic bow while only receiving harmless smoke and mirrors in return. Obama has successfully pinned the Bush administration's economic woes on McCain like a tail on the donkey. From our view, he wears it well. C. Country bracing for higher fuel and food prices as farmers fear modest crops this year. With Ben Bernanke signaling an end to rate cuts to stem inflation, the country is in for a rough ride.

RetroVision Media's Analysis of Obama's Win and Clinton's Refusal To Concede
from RetroVision Media June 04, 2008
Barack Obama, the nominee of the Democratic Party as of last night’s final primary contest, awakens this morning to the nightmare of a shotgun wedding with Hillary Clinton as his running mate. After clearing every hurdle to achieve what no person of color, man or woman has in the history of American politics, he now has to find a way to placate a bunch of self-centered losers from forcible glomming on to his success. Hillary Clinton failed to do the right thing, the stand up thing, and the proper thing by congratulating Barack Obama on winning the needed number of delegates to capture the nomination. Intentionally, she snatched the door open to hijack her way back into the White House by hanging on to Obama’s coattails. Somehow, she has deluded herself and the fringe element within her core support that the Obama camp gives a rat’s ass about what she wants. America is a country that loves a winner and shuns its losers. There is little room for disgruntled second place finishers.

RetroVision Media Covers McClellan's Hot Book That is Heating Up Rove's Ass
from RetroVision Media May 28, 2008
As much as we hate rats and rat bastards, many times it is the only way to get to the truth. This is especially true when the government and the power that runs it is involved. Scott McClellan’s new book "What Happened" leveled the hammer big time on the Bush administration without mercy, leaving Karl Rove’s ass hanging in the wind. With John Conyers, heading up the House Judiciary Committee shoving a subpoena up Karl’s butt to force some conversation, conversation that Karl and the rest of the White House crew has been thumbing their noses at, maybe the tool needed to give Rove the tight screw he has coming. To date Karl has been playing the executive privileged game saying he and his “Boyz” are above it all. But this well timed book release is forcing the all the ugly and largely ignored stories of what was really going on behind the scenes that led this country to war at a time that has to have Karl “The Pillsbury Dough Boy” shitting bricks

RetroVision Media Covers The Cost Conscious Holiday Weekend
from RetroVision Media May 27, 2008
Returning from any three-day weekend generally leaves some of us a little sluggish and lacking that creative spark. Fortunately for me, an anonymous comment left at the blog gave me the spark for today’s podcast. Our last podcast posting covered the possibility of worldwide despair due to global disasters along with food and fuel shortages topped off with domestic and international economic downturns that last beyond our comfort zones and levels of measurable tolerance. We also mentioned that because of said poor economic outlook and global catastrophes many would be lucky to have a backyard to have a backyard Bar BQ in this year. Based on most reports from airline hotels and restaurants many did just that and stayed close to home.

The Week of May 26, 2008
from Just Average American May 24, 2008
Maxine Waters has done everyone a favor by revealing her true intentions, and her own shortcomings. A befuddled and incompetent Representative, Waters regularly enjoys nearly 100% voter support. We ll incorporate her misadventures with those of other usually closet socialists, including Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and of course Barack Obama. America may be at a genuine crossroad as the 2008 election approaches. If health care is nationalized and Iraq abandoned, there will be no going back in terms of socialism, and fighting terrorism will be much more difficult and costly. Whether or not we write another post on the Mormon Mess in Texas, it sure looks like history is repeating itself. In 1953, authorities in Utah and Arizona cracked down on FLDS families. In the end, the Fundamentalist Mormon communities were reunited, but government authorities were chastened. Arizona s governor lost his reelection bid, and the FLDS was left pretty much alone for nearly 50 years. So far, events in Texas are on track to repeat the 1953 fiasco. We ll do one post on the gathering good economic news. My prediction is that May will produce job gains and another month of positive economic growth. All the naysayers who cried recession for the last year+ should be rounded up and well made to eat humble pie, at least. Industry experts predict oil prices will keep rising for the foreseeable future. God forbid a major disruption in production or refining anywhere on earth. America has become vulnerable and dependent because of the machinations of radical environmentalists. The chickens are just now about to come home to roost. Andruw Jones lost 2 points off his batting average last week, a good week for him. The good news is, he may need knee surgery, the best news manager Joe Torre has gotten since he came to LA. Higher ups in the Dodger organization must know Jones is a complete bust. They should give him his money and his release, or trade him to the San Diego Padres, a match made in last place. Happy Memorial Day. God bless our armed forces personnel. This and more on tap for the week of May 26th. ShareThis

The 2008 Democratic Presidential primary has been a long, grueling and emotional process and both Obama and Clinton have big name endorsements in their corner but this one could be the biggest of all. John Edwards ran a solid, progressive, populist campaign and was a favorite of many in the blogosphere. What do you think, does Edwards endorsement of Obama have any real significance?

Political Lunch (HD) 05-12-08
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 12, 2008
It's a new day on the campaign trail, one filled with talk of the general election. John and Barack prepare for a possible series of townhall style debates, while the Democratic Party tries to ease Hillary towards the exit. ALSO: What's Sam Donaldson like at a cocktail party?

The Colbert Report: EdWørds!
from Crooks and Liars April 18, 2008
Download | Play Download | Play (h/t Silent Patriot) Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards took over the Wørd segment from Stephen Colbert to discuss the all important demographic in this election: white, male voters. And who better to talk about their values than Edwards? You know, Stephen, you’re right about white males playing an important part in this election. Their votes are being courted as a demographic tiebreaker between these two tough candidates and no white male’s vote is being courted more vigorously than this one. [points to self] It is no secret that both campaigns have sought my support. So far, I haven’t decided which of these excellent candidates I’m going to endorse. On the one hand, I don’t want to be seen as anti-hope. On the other hand, I don’t want James Carville to bite me. So who? Who am I going to vote for in the next to the last primary, North Carolina? Well, I’ll support whoever presents a platform that’s consistent with my values. I’ll support the candidate who’ll raise the federal minimum wage. Someone who’ll fight for the 37 million Americans who wake up in poverty every day. Somebody who’ll protect the interest of working families. Also, I’d like a jet-ski.

RetroVision Media Reviews and Recommends The Ruins and Street Kings
from RetroVision Media April 16, 2008
Okay, we know it’s Black Box theater Wednesday and we should have some local, affordable theater to recommend as per usual, but quit frankly, we did not see anything this week that would rate your attention. We did however get to some good stuff on the silver screen. The Ruins and Street Kings are our recommendations for an evening of kick ass action and scary spine chilling suspense. In Street Kings, Forest Whitaker as captain Jack Wander goes head to head with Keanu Reeves as detective Tom Ludlow, the kick ass detective being used by the captain to do the dirty work while he and the rest of his elite unit is raking in big dough from their own street drug sales. Whitaker is able to operate with immunity since he has the goods on all power figures in the Los Angeles political scene as well as the LAPD. This is a cool cop against cop, police corruption, internal affairs on the hunt for all the bad guys flick. This one is worth an afternoon in the theater just vegging to the action
