*STORY IN DESCRIPTION* When the rest of them had gone, Mrs. Jonas turned to Steffi and started talking. After insisting Steffi call her Denise, she relaxed and started bonding with Steffi. Throughout the day she kept Joe's 'special friend' company; they went shopping and to the beach, all the while talking about random subjects. Over lunch, Denise brought up the boys. Steffi blushed and, after a little prodding by Denise, told her story. She ended with, "And that's how I know them. It's everything. I've gone over this a thousand times in my head, and I still can't figure it out. Joe can be really sweet sometimes, but I don't think I'm ready for another relationship...am I?" Denise shook her head sympathetically and said, "Oh, sweetie, I can't decide that for you. Only you know when the time is right. I wish I could say something else...oh, wait, one thing. Since you have a thing for Joe, you should know...stay away from him after he's had more than 3 energy drinks. He's crazy!" Steffi laughed and shook her head. "I believe that." The rest of the day was spent enjoyably, and around dinner time the family and friends reunited. Kevin, Nick, Allie and Lucy were all glowing, but Joe was sulking. Steffi, after giving her friends a strange look, walked up to him. "Aw, what's wrong Joe?" He looked up and smiled. "Nothing's wrong, I've just been mentally scarred for life!" He shot the last part of his sentence at the two couples. Steffi, following his glare, suddenly understood. "Oh, no, they weren't all over each other the whole time were they?" she asked. Joe nodded. Steffi shook her head and turned to face the rest of the group. "Come on, Allie, I thought you swore off excessive PDA? Remember Kristin and Andrew and how awkward it was in freshman year? Think of what you put Joe through today." Allie rolled her eyes and said back, "So what, he seemed to be having a fine time by himself. He was always texting you anyways whenever I tried to talk to him." Joe rolled his eyes when Steffi gave Allie a blank look; she gasped, muttered "Oh, no," and whipped out her phone, finding she had a gizzilion messages from him. She made a face and looked up at Joe. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. Joe looked away and laughed quietly. "It's ok. How was your day with my mom?" "She's actually really cool. A great listener." "Really? So, what'd you talk about?" Steffi turned slightly red. "Just, um, girl stuff. Nothing you'd be interested in." Joe looked at her suspiciously, but took the hint and dropped the subject. Unknown to the two of them, Denise and the rest of the group had been watching the conversation. At this, Lucy and Allie glanced over at Denise, who smiled and whispered she would fill them in the next day. After a pleasant family dinner, the girls left and returned to their house. Even though Allie and Lucy had been careful to hide the party preparations, they both breathed a sigh of relief when Steffi went directly to her room to think about her day. Back at the boys' house, Kevin filled in his mom on how the preparations were coming for the party and exactly what needed to get done the next day with Allie and Lucy. Meanwhile, Nick and Joe were planning a day of excitement far far away from where their mom, Lucy and Allie would be. SO...NOW DENISE KNOWS EVERYTHING. THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING. JftV was formed in 1981 out of the ashes of the Madame Wong's West nightclub and the influential West LA underground music scene. My friend, Allen, and I were the DJs there, meeting many interesting musicians and making contacts. We wanted to perform music like all these bands we were getting to know. I bought a Moog Synthesizer and Allen bought ONE drum and ONE broken cymbal. We found 3 other musicians who didn't realize how bad we were, since they weren't much better! We all had terrible singing voices and we played our instruments at differing levels of ineptitude. Fortunately, we improved our sound with dedicated practice and experience. You could describe us as rock, power pop, punk, new wave, melodic, alternative, garage, satirical, unlistenable, rock opera, artsy-fartsy, but mainly, Theatrical Performance Rock-- kind of a Jewish Alice Cooper. By 1982, the original members split up due to artistic differences. Imagine that. So, Marc and Allen brought in Joe and Dave to add funky chops and actual musical talent. The original line-up had a career resembling the Sex Pistols, in that we were so offensive, infamous hilarity ensued. We were attacked with food, tomatoes, and whatnot during our sets. The principal of Fairfax High School (Phil Spector's Alma Mater) rightfully pulled the plug on us after our second number, a rollicking punkish version of "Springtime for Hitler" during lunch hour. I clearly remember being berated by an outraged rabbi's wife who didn't get the joke. Well, we deserved it. We were asking for it simply by getting up and performing this material...poorly...in front of paying customers. We definitely got a reaction. Eventually, I'll create a memorial website for Jews from the Valley. No reunions planned, don't worry! Fledgling network MTV said they wouldn't even think of playing our videos. Of course they never got a chance to see this little gem, which is admittedly ethnically offensive, but not nearly as appalling as our original line-up's songs. They banned the original line-up for life, so we just assumed the new line-up was also banned...making this video a notorious little ditty for your viewing 'pleasure', meant to mildly offend you, yet entertain you with several chuckles that you're embarrassed about verbalizing. Our song titles included "Beirut is Burning", "Mr. Kosher Man", "The Shool was Rockin", "Hava Nagila/Harvey & Sheila", and "I'm 13" spoofing "I'm 18" with a gruesome Bar Mitzvah twist, which perfectly meshed my 2 favorite influences, Alice Cooper and Allan Sherman. I think we had talent and we were funny, but just not good enough to invest into a career move. We were smart to treat this as a 2 year hobby. I hope all the lads are thriving in their chosen lines of work. They say guys start rock bands to meet girls....curiously that didn't really happen with JftV. Not too many nice Jewish girls hung out at the Starwood, Wong's West, or the Whiskey back then. Our band featured a few guest appearances I must chronicle (since this stupid youtube description has grown into our official biography): Gigi Mariam on keyboards, Elliot Michaels on guitar and harmonies, Rob on drums, and of course the late great Jeff Seidman as the Misguided Ex-Terrorist who subtly sees the error of his ways in this video. Jeff also leapt up onstage unexpectedly, a la Andy Kaufman and Bob Zmekas, as the psychotic Rabbi during our live shows. Jeff's passing in 1983 was a great loss to the community, to comedy, to film, and a personal loss for me since he was my good friend throughout all of high school and college. Jews from the Valley was seriously reviewed by Craig Lee for the LA Times when we opened for Redd Kross. He wrote that we were "a one-joke garage band. " I guess he didn't think the one joke was funny. I found that criticism unfair since, although we were definitely a concept band performing grungy rock operas and producing/projecting films and videos built around the overall concept, we created many many laughs and shrieks of shock...and isn't outrage what we were taught rock 'n roll was all about? ...more description info under comments below. Okay, Nick is 14, Joe is 15, and Kevin is 17, almost 18. Andy is 14, Courtney is 14, and Ashlee is 17. -Ahh! - Andy struggled with the man that had grabbed her arm. Then she realized that it was a man, it was a boy. It was a boy with curly brown hair a really beautiful eyes. His arms were strong, most likely from playing the drums of the guitar, or something like that. She stopped screaming long enough to look at the guy she had punched. He was about a year older, with strait hair. She couldn*t really see his face, since he was holding his nose where she had punched him. The third guy was the oldest, around her cousin Ashlee*s age. It was risky but it was their only way out of there) One Month later- Every day grew longer and longer..every second, every minute, and every hour of every single day. Thats what it felt like for Nick and Kevin. The thought of Gabby and Olivia possibly being dead nawed on them. Every time their names were metioned in the radio, interviews or anything they'd just feel like they shouldn't even be alive. But what made matters worse was that they'd recieve letters, voice calls and wrong clues to where the girls might be. This was was Lacey's plan. She wanted them to suffer. Kevin,not so much but Nick was her real target. And it was working..fast. A typical Day- Nick's point of view- Today I woke up, took a shower and went for a long drive. That's what I would always do..in hopes of finding Gabby or Olivia. The Policemen said they could be anywhere by now. It's been a month. The worst month in my entire life. Not knowing anything about Gabby..feeling lonely and regreting not going on that walk with her. Then I felt like Kevin was just in for the ride and was suffering for one of my problems..and that was an awful feeling. Every since they'd been gone it's never been the same. It was all empty..no feeling..everything felt lifeless..This day I somehow ended up at my parents house where Frankie greeted me as always.. normal point of view- Frankie: Nick! (he jumped on him) Nick: hey Frankie. (smiles) Frankie: Is Gabby with you? (he didn't know..we still didn't know how to explain) Nick: nah..(sad) not today buddy. (ruffled his hair) Frankie: awe..(frowns) Tell her to come one day..I miss her. Nick: (sighed) me too.. Frankie: huh? (confuzed) Nick: eh..nevermind. (he walked inside to see Joe, his mom, dad, and Kailey as usual) hey guys.. Mrs.Jonas: hey Nicholas. how are you? (she asked more concerned as she usually would) Nick: just fine I guess..
