Hundreds of Palestinian women lost their husbands in the war and have had to step into their husbands' roles as the main breadwinners in their families. Al Jazeera's Barbra Serra reports from Gaza, where women traditionally used to stay at home to take care of their children. Now, many widows are struggling to find work.

Two car bombings in Baghdad, one of them caught on film in this report, have killed over 130 people and left many hundreds more wounded. The blasts, which went off less than a minute apart, targeted the justice ministry and the Baghdad provincial council. Al Jazeera's Owen Fay reports on what is the bloodiest attack in the Iraqi capital for months.

At least 12 people have been killed in Rio De Janeiro in clashes involving suspected drug traffickers and police. A police helicopter crashed after being shot at, killing two officers. It was part of an operation in one of the Brazilian city's slums. Gabriel Elizondo reports.

Guinea's government has promised to investigate why troops from the presidential guard opened fire during a protest, says the death toll is much lower. A human rights group says at least 157 people were killed at the opposition rally in the West African country on Monday. More than a thousand of others were reportedly injured. Witnesses say soldiers raped women and stabbed protesters with knives. Moussa Camara, the country's leader, was hailed as a hero when he took power in a military coup in December. But as Al Jazeera's Hazem Sika reports, the people's attitude towards him has now changed.

Violence has fallen sharply in Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion but still, roadside bombs, shootings and suicide attacks remain common. Al Jazeera's Omar Al Saleh reports from the northern city of Mosul, where bombings and assassinations occur daily.

US president, Barack Obama, outlined his vision of a new world order in which the US would participate fully - during his first address to the UN general Assembly meeting in New York. His vision was rooted on four basic principles: Non proliferation and disarmament, the promotion of peace and security, the preservation of the planet, and a global economy that advances opportunity for all people. Analysts say one country which clearly stands to benefit from Washington's decision to alter its missile shield plan in Europe is Israel. The new proposed Aegis system is designed to work together with Israel's own missile shield system called Arrow and having Aegis equipped ships in the Mediterranean can only be good for Israel.
