ROCKOLLECTIONS: MAY FLOWERS PT.5
from WLSO.FM May 21, 2008
Although this was broadcast on the regular Tuesday, I recorded the show on a very rainy Friday. Once a year we all get together for a breakfast, lunch or dinner- in this case it was a breakfast. Where it was announced that our little Rock Lives/Rockollections had won an award for Best Entertainment Show for 2007. I don t know how or why, and hell, I think there are too many awards given out nowadays, lol! But I am grateful, and it is always nice to have your efforts recognized. It means I must be doing something right. And the award was even framed, lol. Since I was at the radio station, after the breakfast and festivities, wired on coffee, I thought I d try to find a studio and record another show so I wouldn t have to come back on Tuesday. As I say, it was pouring outside that Friday, giving me the perfect opportunity to open up with an old song about Flowers and Rain by the Move. Followed by Simon t leave out. I particularly liked the segue of this short set. After that, a song even I am surprised I played, lol! Followed by a very very early, pre-hiccup, almost unrecognizable tune by Buddy Holly & Crickets. Closing things out with a country tearjerker, but a darn good song, about a drunk driver who finally finds a reason to bring his lady flowers. All things considered, probably a good representation of what we do musically that won us that award! Mike Click HERE for full size picture

FEATURE: Military Contractors and American Healthcare (05nov06ep188)
from Danger Zone Show with Doctor MO November 06, 2007
soundtrack by na_imean globe risk and blackwater USA are both US Military security contractors Since the war in Iraq began, military contractors from the U.S. have been slaughtered by both legislators and the press. And it’s not for bad reason: Private U.S. companies like Haliburton and (most recently) Blackwater have engaged in corruption, wasteful spending, and all-around bad behavior...like killing Iraqi citizens. A whopping 72% of Americans say that they are dissatisfied with how things are going in this country, according to a USA Today/Gallup Poll, only 26% say they are happy with it. Americans spend double what people in other industrialized countries do on health care, but have more trouble seeing doctors, are the victims of more errors and go without treatment more often. The report studied the health care systems of: The U.S., Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. FACT: The United States spent $6,687 per person on health care in 2005 (that’s 16% of GDP.) Every other country spent less than half of that: Australia spent $3,128, for example. Canada spent $3,326. Bush says bin Laden is like Lenin, compares him to Hitler. Washington State lawmaker Richard Curtis resigned his office tonight after a man he allegedly paid for sex spoke to the media about the encounter. Curtis is the third conservative lawmaker in just as many months to resign amid allegations of soliciting gay sex. The severe drought tightening like a vise across the Southeast has threatened the water supply of cities large and small, sending politicians scrambling for solutions. But Orme, about 40 miles west of Chattanooga and 150 miles northwest of Atlanta, is a town where the worst-case scenario has already come to pass: The water has run out. The Army began its recruiting year Oct. 1 with fewer signed up for basic training than in any year since it became an all-volunteer service in 1973. 107 is the number of lives that tropical storm Noel has now claimed in the Caribbean. Brig. Gen. Paul Tibbets, forever immortalized as the guy who flew the Enola Gay and dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima, died yesterday. He was 92. New York uses harsh anti-terrorist laws passed in the weeks after 9/11 to prosecute gang members, saying gangs “terrorize” people through intimidation. State Department personnel under threat of dismissal, are forced to go to Iraq- They call it a “potential death sentence.” PODCAST LINKSSubscribe/ RSSBecome a fanAdd as friendJoin the list Send PodMailView ShoutoutsArchived Shows 206-337-1517doctormo @ podomatic.comListen Online --from blackwater's website...
