Jakob Lodwick Auditions for Psycho Blue Man Group Spinoff [Crack-ups]

Jakob Lodwick Auditions for Psycho Blue Man Group Spinoff [Crack-ups]

from Gawker on July 29, 2009
Duration: 0
When do we force ourselves to look away from Jakob Lodwick's seeming public breakdown? The Vimeo founder shot this insane, angry video beautifully. Could a genuine trainwreck be so intricately choreographed? Maybe it's all just performance art, the half-naked party appearances, brandishing that knife and going all Taxi Driver at a diner. But that doesn't really make it any less sad, the notion of a hipster millionaire fameball still clawing hungrily, strategically for attention. It would be more impressive if this were all some guerilla marketing campaign for a new class of hallucinogens. See excerpts from the latest installment above.

I made this with Jakob when I was living in San Diego. I'm still super happy with it, which is hard to say for a lot of older stuff that any of us have made, I'm sure. Found a decent copy on an old hard drive and thought it was time to get 'er online again. Cast: justin, Jakob Lodwick

Only weeks after the millionaire tech-boy stormed off the Internet in a huff, he reappears in this video on his website. SERIOUSLY Jakob, you should just bring your blog back because posting stuff like this anywhere simply invites more abuse. Also, this vid will be especially relatable if you've ever smoked a boatload of weed and ate a bag and a half of 'shrooms at the same time.

Julia & Jake Watch One of Julia's TV Segments, Discuss her Job

Julia & Jake Watch One of Julia's TV Segments, Discuss her Job

from Vimeo / Jakob Lodwick's appearances on October 13, 2007
Duration: 0
So last Tuesday, Jake & I were at my place at 11 pm, when CNN's Showbiz Tonight comes on. I am frequently interviewed for their lead piece (usually taped around noon, 1-3 days a week), so I wanted to watch to see how I did. It's not a narcissistic thing, in fact, most people don't like watching themselves on tv - you think, "UGH, do I really look/sound so hideous/stupid?" But I've figured out that the only way to improve your performance is to dissect each of your appearances, from your hair & makeup (yes, they matter) to your outfit to the speech patterns (did I say "um" too much? Did I use the same word multiple times?) to yes, the substance. I go through a process of analyzing what soundbites they used ... it helps me figure out what they liked, what they didn't, what I should do more of, etc. The funniest part of the whole thing, which might surprise people who don't do this for a living, is how much work goes into that little five minute segment. HOURS!! Sad. But I still love my job :) BTW, we were watching this clip: vimeo.com/339640 Cast: Julia Allison, Jakob Lodwick

Jake & Julia: Monday evening communication breakdown

Jake & Julia: Monday evening communication breakdown

from Vimeo / Jakob Lodwick's appearances on October 08, 2007
Duration: 0
**By the way, at the end I say, softly "my arm hurts." In case you were wondering. Okay, so this video is a PERFECT illustration of the male-female communication breakdown. I was upset about something. I expected - like a woman - that Jake want to discuss it, to work through it. Jake expected - like a man - that I would "just solve it," with no emotion involved. Also like a woman, I let one "straw" event be a catalyst for bringing up another irksome trend that had been bothering me for a while. It's a bad habit many women have, allowing an unrelated incident prompt them to address a larger issue (which totally confuses the guy, who feels blindsided, like "whoa, she was fine two minutes ago and now she's yelling at me. WHAT JUST HAPPENED??" but really we've been ruminating on it for WEEKS and it's all coming out now!!) In this case, it was that I felt unappreciated for the amount of time helping/discussing/talking about Vimeo with Jakob. I'd been thinking that for a while, but I finally said something about it tonight. Why doesn't he ever help me with my site? My business? My career? He seemed genuinely confused. If I wanted help, why didn't I just ask? I thought to myself, "Why should I have to ask for things to be fair?" I'm not wrong, and neither is Jake. This is really one of those cases where it feels like we're speaking two different languages. "If no woman wants to be seen as demanding, then no woman should be demanding." See, to Jake, it's as easy as that. But if I state my needs, I feel demanding. And if I don't then my needs don't get met. It seems like a catch-22. Whereas women spend so much time thinking about whether our partner's needs are getting met, that men get in the habit of NOT having to state their needs - because in their experience, they don't have to! Their needs get met without them having to do anything AND they don't have to feel demanding. Cast: Julia Allison, Jakob Lodwick
