In this video, I answer various questions in my Youtube Inbox! It's Bwana.TV Q&A for 07/24/2008. Most of the questions in this video have to do with the new iPhone 3G and the new iPhone software. There were also questions regarding unlocking an iPhone 3G which is currently not possible (from what I understand). In this video, I demonstrate how to utilize the PwnageTool (2.0.1) to jailbreak and unlock an iPhone with 2.0 software. I'm not using an iPhone 3G, but an old model which uses EDGE only. Remember the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking. Jailbreaking an iPhone will allow custom software (outside of the App Store) to run while unlocking an iPhone allows one to use the iPhone on a different carrier such as T-Mobile. The Pwnage tool gives you an easy to use interface to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone. It provides giant buttons that are easy to read and follow. Note, you should have already downloaded the latest Apple firmware as well as the latest BootLoader files. The tool will prompt you to download them if you haven't already. I also demonstrate "advanced mode" which gives you options to customize the firmware even further. You can tell it to activate the iPhone or not, disable the partition wipe, customize the root partition size, (pre)install custom packages, customize boot logos, or whether to preload Bootneuter for unlocking. After customization, you click the giant "Build" button which builds a custom firmware with all the customizations defined. You then have to restore this custom firmware to your iPhone through iTunes. This invovles putting the iPhone in DFU mode. The tool does a decent job of guiding through the process of holding the right buttons at the right time. Once this is done, the hard part is over! Just wait until the phone boots, runs the appropriate programs, and you'll have a jailbroken, unlocked iPhone! Enjoy! First of all ; you need to go to ziphone.org after that, you got to make sure your itouch/iphone is connected. And itunes is open. When you enter the ziphone.org page, click on the words that say download ziphone and make sure you go to a screen that says download for windows or mac when you click on it. If you have a pc with windows then download the one for windows. If you have a mac, then download the one with the apple logo on it. After it's done downloading, open it up and if you have an itouch make sure you click the one that says jailbreak. DO NOT CLICK ON THE ONE FOR IPHONE ONLY. CLICK THE ONE ON THE BOTTOM THAT SAYS IPHONE/ITOUCH AND THAT SAYS JAILBREAK ONLY. When you click it you have to leave your ipod connected for about 1 minute and 20 seconds until you itouch/iphone restarts and has a new app called installer. then you all done. This is a springboard bug of the iPhone or iPod touch. I used an 1.1.4 jailbroken iPod touch (that looks like an iPhone) but this might also work/go wrong with an iPhone. (By the way: Sorry for the bad quality - the video was filmed with the 2 megapixels camera of my mobile) The way I did it: I added multiple "Apple Store" webclips to my homescreen, so that they filled up one homescreen + the dock. When I deleted all the webclips of the homescreen and the 4 in the dock (so that there would normally be a blank homescreen and a blank dock), my dock disappeared and all the sites I had currently opened in Safari was reset (don't know why that happened). Fortunately I could bring back the dock by opening an application and pressing Home. P.S.: Sorry for my English, I'm German. and THANKS FOR WATCHING! To send a MMS from your iPod Touch or iPhone all you need is a single picture and mail.app. There is absolutely no jailbreaking needed but if you have jailbroken then that's fine. 1.Go to photos and tap the photo you want to send. 2.Tap on the options key on the bottom left. You will see 4 options... Use as wallpaper, Email Photo, Assign to Contact, and Cancel. Select "Email Photo". 3.Next you will need to know the MMS email address of the cellphone your trying to send the photo to. Type the 3 digit area code and then the number, after put the email address. Example (xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net) Select send and your done. If you check the mail.app afterwrds you will see that you have sent the photo/mms. You can try this on your own cellphone to be sure.
