Feedback Overload episode 1!

Feedback Overload episode 1 (Right click, download, and experience.) Welcome to episode 1 of our Feedback Overload series where we go over your feedback and update you on the latest happenings in the realm of Astral Audio Productions. This episode, I am joined by my associate producer Michelle. She came down to Natches from NJ for a month. (As of this writing, she is back in NJ.) The show was recorded on Friday Nov 6, 2009. We spent over an hour recapping various events and generally having a blast. See below to find out the songs we played in between segments. Various aspects of Ariel Palooza were covered including song/artist selection, the feedback we received, and additional statistics. I briefly plugged my article about Ariel Publicity found on Blog Critics. October was a month in which we experienced a concert featuring The Hill Country Review from northern Mississippi, The Vettes from New Orleans, and headline by Better Than Ezra; all bands you should check out when given the opportunity. We also got to watch the new (and long awaited) release entitled Trick r Treat; it is definitely worth purchasing on Amazon. We mentioned several podcasts we are listening to including Fetidus, Broken Sea Audio, and The Leviathan Chronicles. As far as this month, Michelle is working on new ideas and items for her show. See the sidebar for details. I am feverishly working on my entry for National Novel Writing Month, giving you two albums by Diablo Swing Orchestra, and planning to release episodes 1 and 2 of our Beyond The Voices series. Speaking of Beyond The Voices, we are still wanting your questions for J.C. Hutchins. Visit this post for details. Finally, we poke a little fun at Chris Lester with this clip. Today, in the third episode of J.C. Hutchins Beta Clone Army Update podcast (where he talks about promotion and progress of his 7th Son series of novels, including 7th Son: Descent ), I was outed. I am John Smith, the journeyman folk-rock singer who, it just so happens, is also one of seven human clones. Almost a year ago, author J.C. Hutchins came to me with the idea to create a mini-album of songs presented with the conceit that they were written, performed and recorded by John Smith, a fictional character from 7th Son Descent. The songs would by used to promote the October 2009 paperback release of 7th Son: Descent. Now, you can hear the whole story through a conversation between J.C. Hutchins and myself on his latest Beta Clone Army podcast. The interview begins at the 35 minute mark! MP3 versions of the John Smith Anyman songs are available at ReverbNation. A CD will be available, along with high-quality MP3s, through CDBaby.com and anywhere digital music is sold, in late November. Stay tuned!

Since it s Halloween, I thought I d toss something unusual in the podcast feed. Check out this experimental piece of fiction I wrote and recorded back in Nov. 2008 titled Ursa Minor. At the time, Celldweller s album Soundtrack for the Voices in My Head was brand new (it s a stellar album; pick up a copy), and I was smitten by its cinematic-style music. I was so inspired, I contacted Celldweller mastermind Klayton and asked if I could write at least one short story inspired by his music using his music in the story as a soundtrack. The goal: To tell a complete tale using only the time allowed by the music, while timing plot points and action to specific moments in the music. The end result is Ursa Minor, using the song of the same name from the Celldweller album. It s 1:44 minutes long. A fun creative challenge! I hope you enjoy the tale, as brief as it is. Happy Halloween! J.C.

Unscrew You Lyrics I remember that day Just like it was yesterday Maybe that s because it was just like The day that came before That s when you showed up but I was not expecting guests You smiled and said it came down to right and East Or left and West I made my own decision And I took you in my arms Now I haven t got the slightest clue Where the girl I knew has gone I wanna unscrew you I wanna get inside your Get inside your head Unscrew you Instead of making love Make some sense instead Every branch is split in half and half again and every road goes everywhere at once with you Every time I see your face it s like the girl I love s replaced with someone new You astonish me I mean you knock me on my heels Then a sparrow falls or someone calls and I can t tell what s real What s it like for you to be The soul of mutability How do you decide which to apply Variations on a theme (Repeat chorus) Is it too much to ask Do I call you to task Which lover stayed? Who are you today? (Repeat chorus to end)
