documentation: rock scissors paper
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) June 30, 2008
( //probably of not much interest unless you are into physical computing or learning about xbees) for this exercise in our "sociable objects" class at ITP (Faludi, Summer 2008) we were asked to use the xbee wireless protocol and arduino microcontrollers to create controllers that could play "rock paper scissors" with two people. (we made a mistake in our code and called it rock scissors paper, hence the new name. yes, we always have to be different...). The project was done by Seungran Woo and I. there are two switches that each player controls: one that chooses randomly either rock scissors or paper, or one that resets and lets you start a new game (when both players have hit reset). here is our example in action... it is not the easiest to follow as far as showing sequentially what happens but it should give you an idea of the gameplay. enjoy. check my blog if you want to see more documentation and code. -e

Dennis Crowley at SXSW Interactive 2008
from YouTube :: Tag // SXSW May 08, 2008
It was great catching up with Dennis at SXSW 2008. I interviewed him right after he finished his panel on location based games. Dennis and I were in the same cohort at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU where I saw him developing DodgeBall.com, which was later sold to Google. One of the great things for me about SXSW was being able to reconnect with folks I had not seen lately, like Dennis. Don't let his relaxed manner fool you. Dennis is one of the hardest workin' men in location based social tech.
