Gender-based violence is any act or threat of physical, sexual or psychological aggression against a woman. It is a human rights violation, and is one of the serious public health problems worldwide. Considering that violence can have harmful effects on a woman s health, particularly her sexual and reproductive health, the International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western Hemisphere Region developed a regional project to help clients at its clinics who are survivors of violence.
