So many large events featuring celebrities are taking place in Second Life now. How we ve grown, how long a way we ve come. This here is Club Glam Scum, where one of my fave trance musicians, Ferry Corsten aka System F, DJed 4 months ago! That s around the same time I was planting the seeds for the Video Tutorials wiki page, and now that I think about it, I was thoroughly engrossed by that, so it s likely that event eclipsed me from becoming aware that OMG SYSTEM FREAKIN F IS PERFORMING IN SL! I m not one to be underexcited, lemme tell ya. I m not one to avoid a good tangent either, so I have a bit of trivia. In this picture: Ferry s wearing Sony MDJ-700s. I only know this because I own a pair myself. They get uncomfortable if you wear them too long because they sit on, not around your ears, but they sure look sleek and shiny. So what s that have to do with Second Life? Have a look: Observe? And no, they re not the same Plantronics headphones shown on this page, but they oddly have a mouthpiece coming out the other side of the avatar s mouth. Hybrid construct of some sort, I suppose. That s what Second Life is good for. Oh, and this is what the Glam Scum picture looked like before I did anything with it Whether it s tasteful subtlety or out-there extremity, I m up for it! But I think I have enough of the solar flares-meets-cyberpunk mirrorshades vibe for now, and I ve developed it to incredulous degrees and maybe even so I ll move on to a different aesthetic. The Alternate Virtual Reality set continues to grow with my interpretation of what I d like a future Second Life to look like, even if it s at times visually stunning but casually unusable. (But wait, what s this coming from the same guy who sez Comfort trumps coolness ? I love contradictions.) And for those prog trance trainspotters, yes, the title of this post is derived from one of my fave David West tracks, Make U Mine : Download audio file (makeumine(original).mp3) which glistens with epic shimmers without being overconfident, and has a bouncy bass reminiscent of some of the best video game boss themes. Listen and imagine fighting cascading waves of bastard Contra aliens to it! The melody is sick, SiCk, SICK! Now if West comes to SL, I sure don t wanna miss that, so wake me up!
