Was It Something I Said?
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos March 30, 2007
This was at the Pizza Convention. At most booths, you just took your sample and ate it on your feet. This tomato vendor had a pretty elaborate quasi-restaurant featuring waitresses, bread, cheese, lasagna, and wine. I don't know why, but when this guy sat down I put my camera on the table and started taping. The non-subtitled voice is me. We're not actually in talks with Penguin. Cast: Jeff Rubin

Lip Dubbing - The Freshman by Verve Pipe
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos March 16, 2007
I basically stole Amir's idea for Paulina (http://www.vimeo.com/clip:130854) and reversed it. In addition, I made Amir hold the camera so a double-thanks to him. The song in my headphones is actually The Freshman at double speed, a la Spike Jonze's Undone video. I couldn't get the lip synch 100%, but it straightens out by the end. Cast: Jeff Rubin

Degrassi Q&A
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos September 18, 2006
This clip will be VERY boring if you aren't into the Canadian kid's show DEGRASSI. Jimmy drops a minor spoiler, but it's something that's been in the commercials. Cast: Jeff Rubin

Sidney Poitier Impression
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos August 07, 2006
There's a lot of street performers at Fisherman's Wharf. Usually they are pretty easy to ignore, but this is one we couldn't resist. This guy sits next to a sign that says "Live Impressions - Shout Out a Star! $1." You have to pick a celebrity off his list, but there were many to choose from. My friend Dave ponied up two dollars and requested Sidney Poitier. It's a scene from 1963's The Long Ships (http://imdb.com/title/tt0057259/). My friends and I realized when we walked away that none of us had any idea what a good Sidney Poitier impression was like. What do you guys think? Cast: Jeff Rubin

Me doing stand-up, 10-26-04
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos May 25, 2006
This is me doing standup at an open-mic night at the Village Lantern on October 26th, 2004. It was one of only 4 or 5 times I did standup in New York. This was right before the 2004 presidential election. I notice watching it now, a year and a half later, that there are long periods of time when nobody laughs. I knew that going in though. I still think this is a pretty engaging, even if it's not always hilarious. I was working a crappy temp job entering data at the time, and during the day I would enjoy a lot of Spalding Gray monologues, so I think that's why I decided that would be okay. I constantly toy with the idea of doing random open mics again. I really enjoyed writing the whole routine, and figuring out the best way to make it all go together. I did not really enjoy performing. My rehearsal regiment included daily shower performances and walking around my suburban NJ town in the middle of the night muttering to myself. It made me very nervous. I've done other types of public speaking before and since and generally I enjoy it, but stand-up is different. If a musician does an open-mic night with his guitar, everyone (should) stand around and be respectful and clap at the end. But with these, even your close friends can't force laughter (though you will hear my friend Scott, who was holding the camera, valiantly try). That thought made me more nervous than I probably needed to be. The catchphrase schtick was pretty standard for my stand-up appearances. I really liked doing it, I felt like it was a good way to engage the audience. All in all a decent performance, and one I'm not embarrassed to post on Vimeo. p.s. i just googled noah mccullough and he has a website - http://noahmccullough.com/ Cast: Jeff Rubin

Brokeback Ventures
from Vimeo / Jeff Rubin's uploaded videos May 08, 2006
I know I'm a little late on the Brokeback Mountain trailer remix wagon, but what the heck. I thought it would be fun to remix something with my friends in it. This was mostly made from - http://www.vimeo.com/clip:69921. And inspired by Chris' remix of the same footage - http://www.vimeo.com/clip:70167 Cast: Jeff Rubin, Amir and streeter seidell
