FLUCTUATING MUCH. THE ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES HAVE THEIR HOME OPENER TOMORROW NIGHT. TODAY THE TEAM SHOWED OFF SOME NEW ADDITIONS TO THE 6-YEAR-OLD BALLPARK. TY SHESKY TOOK THE TOUR TO GIVE YOU A SNEAK PEEK.. IN ADDITION TO A NEW PUTTING GREEN AND A THEME-PARK STYLE RIDE CALLED 'TOPES TOWER', THE ISOTOPES HAVE A NEW LIFE-SIZE BOBBLE-HEAD OF THEIR MASCOT ALONG WITH A BULL- PEN CART. OWNER KEN YOUNG HOPES THE NEW ADDITIONS WILL MAKE THE GAME-DAY EXPERIENCE MORE FUN. 2:22 'This year we really decided to do things that we thought would be great for the kids and also just fun in general.'THE ISOTOPES SPENT OVER 100- THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THE NEW ADDITIONS TO THE PARK. 2:58 'When people come out to the ballpark... if they have fun, then they'll continue to come back to the ballpark.' BUT YOUNG INSISTS THAT BOOSTING FANS IN THE STANDS IS NOT HIS FOCUS. 2:51 'We don't really look at this so much as an attendance booster. It's just people having fun at the ballpark.' ATTENDANCE FOR THE ISOTOPES' HOME GAMES HAS BEEN PRETTY STEADY OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS... AT 580-THOUSAND PLUS. AND PARK OFFICIALS EXPECT MORE THAN 10-THOUSAND FANS TO SHOW UP FOR TOMORROW'S HOME OPENER. 'I'm always excited about opening day. That's one of the great things. I'm a sports fan, but opening day is one of those days that tells everybody in the community spring is here, baseball is back ... you gotta be excited with opening day.'TY SHESKY, EWN-4.
