Jill Fehrenbacher interviewes photographer Chris Jordan at the Greener Gadgets Conference.

Chris Jordan is a Seattle-based photographic artist who portrays the detritus of our mass culture: piles of cell phones, aluminum cans, garbage, and the like. His keynote at Greener Gadgets was aimed at visualising the statistics of electronic waste in an attempt to inspire the conference attendees to start designing and manufacturing greener and more sustainable electronics.

In conjunction with Greener the Gadgets Conference Inahbitat & Core77 announced a contest for a greener gadget.In the video Allan Chochinov of Core77 takes to the stage along with judges Ryan Block from Engadget, Valerie Casey of The Designers Accord and IDEO, and Jill Fehrenbacher of Inhabit (and Greener Gadgets). Following a whirlwind tour of dozens of notable entries, the panel discussed their top ten, then turnes the final vote over the audience in true clap-o-meter style, who's first place choice might have signaled a slight backlash against gadgets--after a whole day of 'em.
