Paul Krugman wins Nobel
from Revver - swedish Videos October 17, 2008
Author: purchasingcros Added: Fri, 17 Oct 2008 00:34:50 -0800 Duration: 236Paul Krugman wins Nobel Prize www.EmploymentCrossing.com Paul Krugman, a professor at Princeton University and an Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences on Monday. Its been an extremely weird day, but weird in a positive way, Mr. Krugman said in an interview on his way to a Washington meeting, according to the New York Times. He said he was mostly preoccupied with the hassles of trying to make all his scheduled meetings today and answering a constantly-ringing cell phone. Mr. Krugman was awarded for his work on international trade and economic geography. The prize committee lauded his work for having shown the effects of economies of scale on trade patterns and on the location of economic activity. Traditional trade theory assumes that countries are different and will exchange different types of goods with each other; Mr. Krugmans theories have explained why worldwide trade is dominated by a few countries that are similar to each other, and why some countries might import the same kinds of goods that it exports. Mr. Krugman wrote his dissertation, however, on international finance, and credits his late MIT professor Rudiger Dornbusch for pushing him to study international trade. To be absolutely, totally honest I thought this day might come someday, but I was absolutely convinced it wasnt going to be this day, Mr. Krugman said. I know people who live their lives waiting for this call, and its not good for the soul. So I put it out of my mind and stopped thinking about it. Mr. Krugman continues to teach at Princeton. Mondays award is the last of the six prizes and is not one of the original Nobels, but was created in 1968 by the Swedish central bank in Alfred Nobels memory. Mr. Krugman was the only was the only winner of the award, which includes a prize of about $1.4 million.

Carry two extra memory sticks with new accessory
from PSP Fanboy July 08, 2008
Filed under: Peripherals, Imports As an alternative to the UMEMD, PSPGadgetZ suggests you check out this other UMD-slot, slip-in memory stick holder for your PSP. Previously, the UMEMD could only be used inside the PSP-1000 models (fat ones); however, this new gadget can be used with both the fat and slim models. The only drawback is that this one can only hold two memory sticks -- half the UMEMD's capacity of four. It looks like you can't currently buy this thing alone either; it comes together as part of other PSP accessories. You can check them out here and here if you're interested. There are also more pics over at PSPGadgetZ.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

John McCain Bullish on Imports and Job Losses
from YouTube :: Tag // carolina July 03, 2008
Mr. McCAIN: "I say to the Senator from South Carolina, I know there are individual and heartbreaking stories of people who have lost their jobs in the textile industry in South Carolina. The fact remains that history and the record show that every American family, whether they are unemployed or employed or rich or poor, has benefited by the importation of less expensive goods and services into the United States. We balance this with assistance, training, in every way we can, including reaching agreement on health benefits for dislocated workers. I never have sold anything to a grocery store. I bought a lot from grocery stores.I buy flowers a lot cheaper when they are grown in Colombia than when they are grown in South Carolina. It has never been my ambition for any child to grow up to work in a textile factory. I would much rather have them work in a BMW plant or high-tech factory or other kinds of employment for which we can provide the training and education. I hope the Senator understands the fact that Americans have profited by free trade enormously. Yet we can still address the specific problems that result from dislocated workers. That is what free trade is all about. That is why I believe this Nation will continue to prosper when we have free trade agreements consummated between ourselves and our neighbors. We should be concerned about the economy of countries such as Colombia because their narcotraffickers can take over that country and export their goods, which are drugs, into this one. I thank the Senator from South Carolina. I look forward to a renewal of our spirited discussion which we have had for many years, always marked by respect for the views of the junior Senator from South Carolina."
