Sam Adams launched their Imperial line of beers this year. The Imperial White is a Whitbier (wheat beer), but this one boasts a 10.3% ABV, which is enormous for a wheat. Brewed with ale yeasts, the beer can be brewed at higher temperatures. While maintaining some of the hints of a traditional wheat - smooth, banana like flavors and hints of citrus, this one reminds us of a Belgian double or triple with its amber color and noticeable caramel notes and high-level heat.
