Na een korte pauze wegens eindejaarsfeestjes, zijn we terug met de vierde aflevering van de iTutor PodCast. In deze aflevering bekijken we hoe wat Flickr is en hoe we onze foto's vanuit iPhoto op Flickr kunnen krijgen. Voor diegene die nog niet weten wat Flickr is heb ik alles in het eerste deel uit de doeken gedaan. Het eerste hoofdstuk is dan ook een korte inleiding tot Flickr, wat het is, wat je ermee kan doen. We bekijken ook even de verschillen tussen de gratis en de betalende account. Voor diegene die nog geen Flickr account hebben wordt ook even voorgetoond hoe je een account kan aanmaken. In de rest van deze tutorial, gebruiken we dan ook mijn Flickr account als voorbeeld om een aantal foto's te uploaden en te organiseren. In hoofdstuk 2 bekijken we de Flickr Uploadr Tool. Deze tool wordt door de mensen van Flickr zelf ontwikkeld en is gratis te downloaden op hun website. We bekijken even de mogelijkheden van de tool, en de verschillende instellingen. Aan de hand van een aantal voorbeelden laat ik jullie ook zien hoe je dan uiteindelijk uw foto's vanuit iPhoto in de Flickr Uploadr tool krijgt. Voordat we de foto's effectief uploaden, bekijken we ook eens wat de verschillende instellingen zijn en waar ze voor dienen. Nadat we de Flickr Uploadr tool hebben bekeken, nemen we in het derde hoofdstuk nog een andere tool onder de loep. Deze keer bekijken we de iP2F ( iPhoto to Flickr ) plugin. Deze Shareware plugin werd geschreven door de mensen van Tagtraum Industies. Op hun website kan je een 14-day Trial downloaden, en vind je ook een kleine FAQ over de tool. Al snel worden een aantal voordelen van deze tool duidelijk. Het is namelijk een plugin die volledig geïntegreerd is binnen iPhoto. Je hoeft dus niet uw foto's uit iPhoto te slepen om ze te kunnen uploaden. Gewoon de foto's selecteren, en in het archief menu de Export functie kiezen en je komt in de iP2F plugin terecht. Daar kan je net zoals in de Flickr Uploadr nog een aantal zaken aanpassen en titels, sleutelwoorden en omschrijvingen aanpassen. Nog een groot voordeel van de iP2F Plugin is dat de titels, trefwoorden en omschrijvingen die je bij de export opgeeft ook bij de desbetreffende foto's in iPhoto kunnen opgenomen worden. Na het bekijken van deze twee tools kunnen we ons de vraag stellen wat nu de ideale oplossing is. Op zich een moeilijke vraag. De Flickr Uploadr heeft immers het voordeel dat het door de mensen van Flickr zelf wordt ontwikkeld en volledig gratis is. De iP2F plugin daarentegen is betalend, maar biedt een aantal voordelen die de Flickr Uploadr niet heeft. Daarom zou ik jullie toch ten zeerste willen aanraden om beide tools eens te bekijken, en uiteindelijk zelf een keuze te maken. Aangezien we nu toch bijna alles hebben doorgenomen wat betreft iPhoto, is het misschien tijd om eens iets anders te bekijken.
