Vandaag doen we even iets totaal anders. Tot nu toe hebben we enkel en alleen tutorials beschikbaar gesteld van zogenaamde desktop applicaties. Deze keer bekijken we een web site en de bijbehorende web applicatie, namelijk RouteYou. De tutorial werd opgenomen op een Macintosch, maar windows gebruikers zullen hier zeker ook de nodige informatie kunnen uithalen. RouteYou is een website van een Belgische onderneming (een Vlaamse zelfs). RouteYou biedt de eindgebruiker een groot aanbod van GPS routes, meer specifiek voor recreatief gebruik. De website beschikt dus over tal van wandel, fields, motor en auto routes. Daarnaast biedt de website ook de mogelijkheid om zelf routes aan te maken, compleet met bezienswaardigheden, events en nog veel meer. Het eindresultaat kan zelfs gebruikt worden binnen uw eigen website of blog. Gezien ik zelf een fervent wandelaar ben, dacht ik dat het misschien wel interessant was om deze website en de mogelijkheden ervan uit de doeken te doen. In het eerste hoofdstuk neem ik u mee op verkenning door de website. We bekijken samen even de verschillende mogelijkheden m.b.t. het opzoeken van wandel-, fiets-, motor-, en auto routes. Eens we een bepaalde route hebben gevonden, bekijken we die route ook even in detail. Er wordt een klein woordje uitleg gegeven over de verschillende onderdelen die een route opmaken. We bekijken in detail even de mogelijkheden van de kaart en de bijbehorende POI (bezienswaardigheden). Als laatste bekijken we ook even wat je uiteindelijk kan doen met een bepaalde route wanneer je ze hebt gevonden. In eerste instantie kan je natuurlijk de route gaan afdrukken, maar je beschikt ook over de mogelijkheid om die route te downloaden en te gebruiken op uw GPS toestel. Naast het opzoeken, afdrukken en downloaden van routes, biedt de website van RouteYou u ook de mogelijkheid om zelf uw routes aan te maken. Hoofdstuk twee gidst u dan ook door deze mogelijkheden. We bekijken even hoe we zelf een route kunnen aanmaken, en wat de verschillende mogelijkheden zijn. Naast het volledig uitstippelen van uw route beschikt u immers over de mogelijkheid om het systeem zelf een route tussen twee punten te laten voorstellen op basis van een aantal criteria. Eens onze routen volledig ingepland is, bekijken we ook even hoe we de POI's (bezienswaardigheden) kunnen toevoegen en zo onze route wat te verfraaien. Het laatste hoofdstuk haalt nog een aantal extra mogelijheden. Zo kan je ook groepen aanmaken, en op die manier een aantal routes verzamelen om beschikbaar te stellen aan bv alle leden van uw wandelvereniging. Uiteindelijk kan je ook evenementen aanmaken om bijvoorbeeld samen met een aantal andere leden van uw groep een bepaalde route te gaan fietsen. Naarmate uw evenement nadert, zal het ook hoger en hoger verschijnen op de nieuws pagina van RouteYou Het resultaat van deze tutorial is opnieuw beschikbaar via de podcast en kan u dus volledig automatisch binnenhalen via iTunes, of download deze aflevering hier. *HELLO* - Its about time I addressed Psystar Computers. Psystar Computers have basically hacked Mac OS 10.5 to work on Non-Apple-Hardware, this is breaking a legal term of Apple EULA, which says Mac OS 10.5 cannot be installed on NON-APPLE-HARDWARE. In this video I talk about the PROS of Psystar, and what this means/could mean for Apple in the future.
