Tony Sheehan of Ashridge Business School and formerly of Arup delivers the second keynote address at iKMS' annual conference KM Singapore 2008, on the topic "The Lost Art of Thinking". Tony takes us through ten steps of significant change in ogranisational life, leading to a plea for balance and an outline of what we need in terms of connecting tools, networks, corporate values, learning strategies, and time to think. This video is 40 minutes, comprising 35 minutes of Tony's presentation plus 5 minutes question and answer.

iKMS Fishbowl on Building Internal KM Capabilities

This fishbowl discussion between Doreen Tan of the Singapore Sports Council and Mohd Bismillah Abdul Aziz of the Health Promotion Board was held on 12 June 2008 at the British Council. It covers a wide range of topics from their experience of implementing KM, including the role of consultants, the value of doing it yourself, the complexity of communicating the KM message, the use of Knowledge Champions, and more. The discussion was facilitated by Mark Hamilton. Apologies for the brief loss of audio at about the 28 minute mark.

Selcting Tools for Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration

Professor Eric Tsui of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's KM Research Centre talks about some of the criteria and suggested approaches to selecting tools for collaboration and sharing inside the enterprise. Using an action research project as a guide he stresses the need to experiment with new tools and to be flexible in how they are selected deployed. Lim Soo Hoon is Chairman of the National Library Board and Permanent Secretaryof the Public Service Division, Singapore. In this opening address for iKMS's annual conference KM Singapore 2007 on 1st November, she describes how public sector organisations can no longer rely on long serving employees to hold the memory of the organisation - career lifespans are getting shorter and mobility is increasing - so knowledge management becomes a critical capability.

This video is of a presentation from the iKMS annual conference (KM Singapore 2007 - www.kmsingapore.com) on 1st November 2007. iKMS President Patrick Lambe describes how Singapore organisations fare against the rest of the world in terms of the support they give to KM, and the degree to which they invest in the personal competencies of knowledge managers, and the organisational competencies in implementing KM. The content is based on a global survey involving over 200 respondents from Asia, Australasia, Europe and North America. While Singapore comes out fairly well, the overal picture is fairly poor. KM is typically under-supported by senior management, knowledge managers have short life-cycles, little KM qualification, experience or training, and poor career prospects.
