US Government Censors Declaration of Independence
from Top Rated July 06, 2008
http://www.screwcensorship.com This just in: The government has censored the declaration of independence! The hypocrisy of July 4th is astounding. The Text: Censoring the Declaration of Independence Every July 4th Americans celebrate a revolutionary document - The Declaration of Independence signed July 4th, 1776. The Declaration talks about the necessity to dissolve the political bonds. About unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Most radically of all it says That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO ALTER OR ABOLISH IT, and to institute new government... But some people don't want us to get that message... If you go to the Jefferson Memorial you will see that the engraving of the first lines of the Deceleration of Independence leaves out the consent of the governed. and our right to alter or abolish government... Then there is this movie reading of the Declaration which closes the door to Independence hall just as we get to that important phrase... Don't let the government and the media censor the Declaration of Independence It's time to celebrate the Fourth of July for what it really is... Right to Alter or Abolish the Government DAY! A true people's holiday! To clarify: This video is pointing out that the government has forgotten the true values that our country was built on I cite specific examples where the government has gone AGAINST the people (such as the draft, or iraq war). If we vote for them and they go against the people then how is this a democracy? I am not saying that I am in support for a direct democracy or that I am a libertarian, I am simply saying that the government should remember that the government is for the people by the people

Ugly Stick Brothers & Co., part ordure
from norelpref :: Media Salad Surgery :: Blog No. WGAF? June 27, 2008
With faces and behavior not even a mother with tragic low-self esteem could even begin to tolerate, separated at birth twins Fred Phelps and Don Imus continue to play play such stupid human tricks before high heaven as make the angels weep. Or guffaw. And I suppose their inbred, genetically and phylogenetically challenged hi jinks might be completely localized and the damage they spread limited, were it not for the fact that they are both media whores playing right into the hands of a meretricious media hungry for anything even slightly smacking of controversy. No, these poor fucks just can t keep their sickness to themselves. Grandpa Phelps thinks he s going to attend George Carlin s funeral with his little picket sign. The absurd protest or statement might be amusing, and in fact I can visualize George laughing his ass off over the whole thing. But for we, the living, this simply cannot pass. Inbred Brother Phelps isn t worthy to even mention Mr. Carlin s name, much less perform his role as spectacle at the funeral. Well, stinky just had to make his ludicrous pronouncement that, you know the drill, _________ is in hell. So I cut the fuck out of him, and made him tell the truth. Which is: the only people presently frying in hell are those who insist upon it s existence, who reify this mythical hot place, where sinners are barbecued for eternity. Father Zossima, from The Brothers Karamazov, said that hell was the inability to love. And I can t think of many cretins in this world more bereft of love and compassion than Festering Fred and his membotic clan, who merely repeat their father/mentor s inanities to any who will listen. The inferno yeah right said Fred rants about is simmering right under his own stupid ass. Perhaps a case of stubborn and suppurating, boiling holy hemorrhoids. And Imus? Well, he doesn t offend with nearly as much horrifically misconstrued hermeneutics as brother Fred, and in fact Imus s main sin is his demeanor of desperation, the fact that he s a collosal bore and he knows it. This is a doofus so inept that he can t even cover his racism with any kind of rhetorical veneer. His drawl-like delivery borders on mumble-speech. How can he remain on the air with only a handful of brain-addled sycophants listening? I guess the market will bear all kinds of bizarre products. Guess I got a little ad hominem there. Fuck it.

Why are Republican pundits allowed to lie with impunity on television?
from Crooks and Liars June 21, 2008
And why do Democratic strategists who are supposedly on to balance them out let them do it? While discussing Barack Obama s decision to air his first national campaign ad in traditionally unfriendly states, Republican strategist Joe Watkins advises McCain just to be his McMavericky self, because people appreciate someone who won t go back on their word, obviously alluding to Obama s broken promise on accepting public financing. What Joe neglects to mention, and what David Shuster and Morris Reid forget to remind him of, is that John McCain is breaking his own campaign finance laws as we speak. Download | Play Download | Play To his credit, Reid mentioned McCain s flip flop on the Bush tax cuts, but calling out his blatant and perpetually ongoing hypocrisy and lawbreaking on his signature issue would be far, far more effective. Josh Marshall sums up the case against McCain quite nicely: [ ] McCain himself is at this moment breaking the law in continuing to spend over the spending limits he promised to abide by through the primary season in exchange for public financing. (By the FEC s rules, we re still in the primary phase of the election and will be until the conventions.) I want to return to this subject though because this is not hyperbole or some throw away line. He s really doing it. McCain opting into public financing, accepted the spending limits and then profited from that opt-in by securing a campaign saving loan. And then he used some clever, but not clever enough lawyering, to opt back out. And the person charged with saying what flies and what doesn t the Republican head of the FEC said he s not allowed to do that. He can t opt out unilaterally unless the FEC says he can. I understand that it s difficult to stay on top of every nuance of every issue, but this is undeniably McCain s biggest vulnerability right now. It s simply astounding that McCain is allowed to hold others up to standards (aka laws) that he himself is violating. Even worse, it s Democrats on TV who are letting him do it. In other words, the media narrative is now that Barack Obama is a flip-flopper for opting out, and John McCain is a straight-shooter for opting in, then out, then in again, all the while breaking the law by spending more than he s allowed to. Damned liberal media.

Falling into a deep sleep
from norelpref :: Media Salad Surgery :: Blog No. WGAF? June 20, 2008
The spectacle is able to subject human beings to itself because the economy has already totally subjugated them. It is nothing other than the economy developing for itself. It is at once a faithful reflection of the production of things and a distorting objectification of the producers. Guy deBord, Society of the Spectacle

Happily, membotic cronies like these deceased ones are dying off in increasing numbers, and holy shit if the world isn t changing slowly, of course; but the credibility of the old guard is dwindling to nil and the oil barons and corporate whores and pimps are going to go down, way down.
