Race to preserve the world's oldest submerged town - Part 2

Underwater archaeologists surveying the worlds oldest submerged town have found ceramics dating back to the early Bronze Age. This suggests that Pavlopetri, off the southern Laconia coast of Greece, was occupied some 5000 years ago making the site even more important than first thought. The Pavlopetri Underwater Archaeology Project, involving the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and The University of Nottingham, aims to establish when the site was occupied, what it was used for and through a systematic study of the geomorphology of the area, how the town became submerged. Dr Jon Henderson, from the Department of Archaeology, takes up the story.

In this installment of Digital Campus, we couldn t decide if we were happy with Google or mad at Google. Tom, Dan, and Mills were so confused about our feelings on the whole Google issue that we invited two new irregulars to join us Jeff McClurken and Amanda French but they proved to be just as unsettled as we were. Even though they didn t help us much on our core problem, we enjoyed having them on the show so much that we ve decided to ask them back on the show again along with some other irregulars to be named later. All five of us also discussed the future of libraries in the digital age and a new raft of picks you should check out. Male Nudes
from Recollecting Adams on March 24, 2009

Helen Facenna, is a 39 year old self-taught artist from the UK. She painted and drawn for as long as she can remember - it's a very important part of her existence. She finds inspiration in the physical human form. In faces, detailed expressions, in the theatrical and dramatic forces that the body and face can convey. Her work is a celebration of the upliftment of the human spirit, which takes her on a constant journey through the complicated world of man's psyche. She works in mediums of colored pencil, watercolor/pastels and acrylic on paper creating dramatic sensual nudes and portraits; beautiful original drawings, paintings and prints in its exquisite lines, textures and colors. Her new works is found mostly on eBay; I first knew about her via her website when I goggle searched nude male gay art way back September 2007. All her works shown in this video are sold out. Here are renderings and interpretations of celebrities in the field of acting, modelling and body building. She captures the men at the height of their youth, virility and beauty focusing on pulchritude centered on body proportion and their enigma that captivates us to what is interesting in their persona. Facenna's masterpieces evolves with individual characters in what they signify as she transports us to a higher level of artistic expression. NUDE - unclothed live model, or a work of art representing a person without clothing. The nude is classic, timeless, elemental, primal, and universal. Because we are all creatures of our own nakedness, it is the subject of ultimate empathy. And yet in the hands of an artist, that fleeting, imperfect, and fragile package that carries all of our souls gains a noble immortality and perfection that transcends its mere physicality. IN THE NEWS: In April of 2006, Sydney McGee, an elementary art teacher at Wilma Fisher Elementary School (in the Dallas, TX, exurb of Frisco), led fifth graders (11 and 12 years old) through European and contemporary galleries of the Dallas Museum of Art. One of her students saw nude art in the museum, and after the child s parent complained, Ms McGee was suspended. Although the tour had been approved by the principal, and the 89 students were accompanied by four other teachers, at least twelve parents and a professional museum guide, Principal Nancy Lawson reprimanded Ms. McGee, saying: During a study trip that you planned for fifth graders, students were exposed to nude statues and other nude art representations. Although school representatives have said that other concerns prompted Ms McGee's dismissal, the evidence betrays this school community's gymnophobia. See a NY Times article about this story. An important goal of education (as it is of art) is to challenge students to consider more advanced ideas. In doing so, viewers must see images that some might consider problematic. Approaching the examination of disturbing subjects, educators are wise to gauge community concerns, and to accomodate them in some ways. Nevertheless, it is generally appropriate to expect that maturing students can and should view many challenging works in a scholarly manner, and that their scholarly pursuits are not be impeded by gymnophobia. GYMNOPHOBIA: An abnormal and persistent fear of nudity. Sufferers of this phobia experience undue anxiety even though they realize their fear is irrational. They may worry about seeing others naked or being seen naked, or both. Their fear may stem from anxiety about sexuality in general, from a fear that their bodies are physically inferior, or from a fear that their nakedness leaves their bodies--and their personalities--exposed and unprotected."Gymnophobia" is derived from the Greek "gymnos" (naked) and "phobos" (fear). The word "gymnasium" comes from the Greek "gymnasion" (a place for athletic exercises) and the Greek "gymnasein" (to train naked).

Who does Islam really worship?

Islam (Muslims) openly deny that Jesus is God in the flesh, oh, they claim that they believe in Jesus but only as a prophet, and that my dear friends is blasphemy it's clearly and blatantly a denial of the Holy Spirit, and those that do such things will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. Satan is the father of allah, and he's nothing more than a figment of Muhammad's imagination a worthless god made-up out of that man's twisted imagination, and he can't save anyone. Jesus is the true and living God who can save all who call on his name. This isn't my opinion it's all tangible facts of History, allah is never mentioned in the Holy Bible no not once but Jesus is.

Auschwitz Forgotten Evidence 2of5

Konzentrationslager Auschwitz (help·info)) was the largest of Nazi Germany's concentration camps. Located in German-occupied southern Poland, it took its name from the nearby town of Oświęcim (Auschwitz in German), situated about 50 kilometers west of Kraków and 286 kilometers from Warsaw. Following the German occupation of Poland in September 1939, Oświęcim was incorporated into Germany as part of the Katowice District (Regierungsbezirk Kattowitz), or unofficially East Upper Silesia (Ost-Oberschlesien), and renamed Auschwitz. The word Birkenau means 'Birch tree' of which there are many surrounding the Birkenau area of the complex. The complex consisted of three main camps: Auschwitz I, the administrative center; Auschwitz II (Birkenau), an extermination camp or Vernichtungslager; and Auschwitz III (Monowitz), a work camp. There were also around 40 satellite camps, some of them tens of kilometers from the main camps, with prisoner populations ranging from several dozen to several thousand. [1] The camp commandant, Rudolf Höss, testifed at the Nuremberg Trials that up to 2.5 million people had died at Auschwitz. The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum revised this figure in 1990, and new calculations now place the figure at 1.1--1.6 million, [2][3] about 90 percent of them Jews from almost every country in Europe. [4] Most of the dead were killed in gas chambers using Zyklon B; other deaths were caused by systematic starvation, forced labor, lack of disease control, individual executions, and so-called medical experiments.
