Top DJ's - Paul Van Dyk In 1999, the readers of the English magazine DJ voted Paul as the "Best Music Maker," ahead of DJ legends Fatboy Slim (2) and Paul Oakenfold (3). Then at the 1999 Music Awards in London he received the "Best International DJ Award." Ministry of Sound Magazine elected him as the "Best International DJ," and his regular 6 hour set at "Gatecrasher" was voted as the "second best club night ever" by the readers of the English magazine Muzik. His hit singles "Another Way" and "Tell Me Why" and "We Are Alive" spent serveral weeks at number 1 in the German Dance charts, and also reached number 15, 13 & 7 in the UK Sales charts respectively. He continuously moved-up in DJ Magazine's annual list of the "Top 100 DJs Worldwide," then in September 1999, Mixmag Magazine elected him as "Man of the year" and Muzik Magazine named him as "Leader of the Trance Nation." Paul van Dyk himself, however, isn't so happy with the label of "Leader."

Top DJ's - DJ Tiesto Highly regarded by both DJ Magazine and ultra-loyal fans, DJ Tiësto, due in part to his legendary six-hour, energetic live sets, has been elevated to mythical status as one of the world's foremost trance DJs. A native of Breda, Netherlands (born Tijs Verwest on January 17, 1969), Tiësto first starting playing out at a well-known club in his hometown called the Sprock. Discovered there by the GM of Rotterdam-based Basic Beat Recordings, Tiësto released his first of five mix CDs as a part of the label's Forbidden Paradise series. Coupled by quick success and his accelerated work ethic, Tiësto soon partnered with Arny Bink and, in late 1997, started Black Hole Recordings as a private label for his productions and mixes which became the birthplace for both his Space Age and revered Magik series (volume seven hit during the summer of 2001). In addition to these acclaimed series, Black Hole also brought the world the first mix compilations from artists such as Ferry Corsten, Johan Gielen, and Armin Van Buuren, and introduced yet another prized series called In Trance We Trust.

Idealists, hedonists, prophets - call them what you will, but Layo & Bushwacka!'s love affair with music started as teenagers under 1988’s strobe lights and led the both of them through techno, breakbeat, electro, dub and electronica, emerging blinking into the light a decade later with a sound that fuses all their influences. By the time Layo and Bushwacka! started working together it was the mid-'90s and dance music was changing. The hardcore scene that Matthew had been such an integral part of was already shifting into drum & bass, while new hybrids - that would later be termed tech-house and breakbeat - were emerging out of clubs like The End. Matthew had started his own Plank Records, and was making and playing what he terms "good quality music to go out and dance to."

A masterful mixer with seven albums to his name, an equally noted remixer, and an innovative producer in his own right under the monikers Squelch and Science Deptartment, Danny Howells has stamped his own sound across the modern dance scene. Born in the small resort town of Hastings, on England's southern coast, Howells played his first party at the end of the '80s in celebration of his hero Prince's birthday. An avid record collector, after stepping behind the turntables, the DJ never looked back and he was soon spinning regularly around the local clubs. In late 1991, a friend handed one of Howells' mix tapes to Bedrock founder John Digweed, who immediately enlisted the young DJ for his own parties.
