I couldn't believe how awful I felt after surgical menopause. Could not sleep through the night, crabby all the time, gained weight, fatigued, the whole bit. Tried the hormone patch. Hated that it fell off after only 3 showers. Tried pills and creams and kept forgetting to take them. Found an age management doctor and he took blood work which showed I had almost NO hormone levels of estrogen, testosterone OR Progesterone. He inserted pellets through a tiny incision and covered with a bandaid. I get re-tested about every 90 days to see if I need more. The pellets are about the size of a grain of rice, I get 2 estrogen and 1 testosterone. I take Progesterone, DHEA and pregnenalone by mouth at night. Best thing I ever did.
