Whistler, BC - 1/20/08 (Part 6): Blackcomb peak continuation
from YouTube :: Tag // snowboard July 17, 2008
Featured here is my brother Derek along with myself, Marcus, and my friend Steven as we near the peak of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, BC, Canada. We never did get a chance to capture footage at the actual peak because my digital camera we were using to record ended up freezing as the wind chill was gusting at -40 degrees celsius. Everything on us was freezing, including our nostrils and saliva. It was very hard to function after a while, but it was a wonderful experience nonetheless! Bagging Wild Sounds, part 1
from The WildeBeat July 17, 2008
This outings program is part one of a report on a trip to record nature sounds. You've got to be totally quiet; stand like a statue. And then, if you're in the right place at the right time, you'll capture your sound. Our assistant producer Kate Taylor reports on her visit to the annual field recording workshop of the Nature Sounds Society. She tells her story with the help of: Dan Dugan, technical advisor to the Nature Sounds Society. Gina Farr, a multimedia producer from Marin Country, California. Hundreds of birds, amphibians, and a few domesticated mammals. Chris Bell, a museum curator from Sydney, Australia. Martyn Stewart, a professional nature sounds recordist for the BBC. Next week, in part two, we'll hear more nature sounds, and find out why it's important to our guests to record and preserve them. You can get tips from Dan Dugan on recording nature sounds by listening to our edition number 90, Listening to Parks. Pokin' Round the Gorge: A Sexy-Romantic Guide for Gorge Lovers
from popular posts - blip.tv (beta) July 11, 2008
Ah! It's been too long! But I haven't abandoned ship, I've just been insanely busy and had to let Live Girl Review fall quiet for a while. As I say in the video, I'm coming off of my first semester of teaching at the college level - human sexuality, of course. I've also been very busy with my new job as the editor of the Village Voice sexuality blog Naked City, for which I also produce a weekly video show, which goes live on Mondays. But, no more excuses! More episodes of Live Girl Review are on their way down the tube, and I finally got it together so you can subscribe to the show through itunes: http://livegirlreview.blip.tv/rss/itunes. I'm attempting to return to the schedule of two shows a week and am sort of contemplating changing the format. Would you like to see fewer, longer shows with more reviews within each show, or should it stay the same with more frequent, shorter shows about one product each? Any comments or suggestions are welcome, either here or via email: dacia@livegirlreview.com. Now, without further ado - today's show is about a travel guide, Pokin' Round the Gorge: A Sexy-Romantic Guide for Gorge Lovers. "Gorge" not a eupehmism, its actually a guide book about the Columbia River Gorge that extends through Oregon and Washington. Written by enthusiastic guide and naked man Scott Cook, the book lets you in on some secrets of great places to hang out in nature and steathily get nude.

Starting With Fire
from The WildeBeat July 10, 2008
This skills program presents the basic skill of fire building. This is the second in a series of shows featuring primitive technologies experts from Primitive Ways. (The first show is number 141, First Skills.) Naturalist Dino Labiste explains and demonstrates the fundamental skill of fire building. Our ancestors depended on fire as a basic survival tool as far back as a million years ago, and yet today, among many people it's becoming a lost art. Ben Lawhon, the education director for the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics talks about minimum impact skills for making and using fires. The fifth Leave No Trace principle is Minimize Campfire Impacts. The Primitive Ways website has many articles on primitive fire skills. Another source of information on primitive skills in the Society of Primitive Technologies. Stealth Gear
from The WildeBeat July 03, 2008
This skills program explains the gear you can carry to tread lightly on your favorite wild places. This is the second in a series of presentations by the Leave No Trace traveling trainers. J.D. Tanner and Emily Ressler talk about the gear you can bring along to make it easier to Leave No Trace. They talk about shoes and shelter, bags and trowels, cameras and sketch pads, lights and blankets, cans and binoculars, and radios and headphones. All of this gear, and more, can help you leave the wild places you visit as good or better than you found them. Specifically, Emily mentions Restop, WAG bags, and poop tubes. J.D. mentions bear cans, which we discussed in detail in our previous edition, Bear Cans Revisited. We'll hear more from Emily Ressler and J.D. Tanner in a future edition. The series will continue several weeks from now when J.D and Emily explain more details about a specific Leave No Trace principle. Hike of the Week | Hatcher Pass "Unknown" | AlaskaHDTV.com
from Alaska HDTV (AppleTV HD) July 03, 2008
Alaska HDTV Presents: Hatcher Pass Unknown hike. Greetings Hike of the Week fans! We originally had another hike planned but the pass was not open through to Summit Lake, so the hike was diverted to a spontaneous location I've not hiked in over ten years. We'll call this one though a very scenic, family friendly, and not heavily traveled hike from what I could see. It's July 2nd as I write this and we've still a fare amount of snow still on the ground with early spring still coming through in areas above 2000 feet. Enjoy the SHOW Scott Alaska HDTV www.alaskahdtv.com

Whistler - 1/20/08 (Part 5): Hiking up Blackcomb Mountain
from YouTube :: Tag // snowboard July 02, 2008
This is myself, Marcus, along with my friend Steven, and my brother Derek, and others all hiking up to the peak of Blackcomb Mountain on this beautiful sunny day. It was very windy though and that provided us with a windchill of -40 degrees celsius! The wind was very strong and it often would push us down to where we had to crouch and wait for the gust of wind to calm before proceeding, and so forth. It was a wonderful experience in the end though! Visit http://www.MarcusCygy.com for more videos!
