The Hempstead Tigers completed the 2009 season with an 0-8 record behind first year head coach Theron Grinage. It was only the third time in school history that the team did not win a single game. Despite their record, both the players and coaching staff believe they made progress towards returning the program to it's winning tradition.

The Hempstead Public Schools are preparing for a cut in state aid for the 2010-2011 school year. As a district that depends heavily on state aid, Hempstead will be greatly affected by any impending cuts.
