A jovem Eloá Cristina Pimentel, de 15 anos teve morte cerebral confirmada às 23h30 deste sábado (18). Infelizmente essa história termina com um desfeche trágico!

A polícia invadiu o apartamento onde estava o rapaz Lindemberg Fernandes Alves, 22, e duas reféns (sua ex-namorada e uma amiga dela, ambas de 15 anos), por volta das 18h desta sexta-feira (17), em Santo André, no ABC paulista. A ex-namorada de Lindemberg morreu, segundo o secretário da Segurança de São Paulo, Ronaldo Marzagão, informou ao governador José Serra (PSDB). O hospital não confirma a morte e afirmou, às 19h15, que ela ainda passará por cirurgia. Ela e sua amiga foram retiradas, mas, segundo o coronel que comanda a operação, a ex-namorada levou um tiro na cabeça e outro na virilha. Sua amiga se feriu no rosto, possivelmente durante a invasão. Ainda não há confirmação se os tiros foram disparados pelos policiais ou pelo rapaz. Elas foram levadas ao Centro Hospitalar, no centro de Santo André.

Infelizmente o fim do sequestro não acabou bem. As duas reféns de Lindemberg saíram baleadas, Eloá Cristina de 15 anos(ex-namorada) foi baleada na virilha e na cabeça e Nayara Silva, também 15 anos foi baleada na boca.

Segundo informações da polícia, as negociações foram retomadas pelo Grupo de Ações Táticas Especiais (gate) no início da manhã desta quarta-feira. Alves invadiu o apartamento por volta das 13h30 de segunda-feira, 13, por estar inconformado com o fim do relacionamento com Heloá. Na noite de terça-feira, ele libertou a amiga da ex-namorada do rapaz, identificada como Nayara. A garota, de 15 anos, passa bem e não apresenta ferimentos. Pouco antes da libertação, às 22h, foi restabelecido o fornecimento de energia elétrica que havia sido cortado seis horas antes. A decisão foi tomada porque, durante a tarde, um tiro havia sido disparado dentro do apartamento e a refém seria liberada. Pela manhã, um outro tiro havia sido efetuado e, segundo a polícia, tinha como alvo os jornalistas que acompanhavam o caso em frente ao condomínio. Alves, que mora no mesmo conjunto de prédios, de início chamou o irmão da ex-namorada para jogar futebol. Durante o jogo, teria alegado que precisava ir embora, voltou até o apartamento e fez os quatro adolescentes reféns, ameaçando matar todos. Por volta das 20h de segunda-feira, o pai de um dos meninos, estranhando a demora do filho em voltar para a casa, foi até o apartamento e acionou a Polícia Militar assim que descobriu o que ocorria dentro do imóvel. Policiais do Grupo de Ações Táticas Especiais (GATE) foram para o local e passaram a negociar com Alves. Ainda às 21h15, um dos garotos foi liberado, e o segundo deixou o apartamento às 22h, de acordo com policiais presentes no local. Segundo a família, Alves não tem histórico de violência e teria namorado a menina durante três anos. O romance terminou há cerca de um mês e o jovem diz possuir muita munição e estar armado também com uma pistola.

A Versatile Heli-UAV Program While perusing the many sights and sounds of the 2008 Heli-Expo, ANN's Aero-TV crews got a look at an intriguing helicopter-based UAV program with a number of missions applications and capabilities. Call the CybAero 'Vantage', this UAV is a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned helicopter developed by US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). With fully autonomous flight operation and differential GPS navigation, CybAero claims the Vantage can perform a wide variety of missions in both military and commercial applications. The Vantage is powered by a specially configured UEL 801 42-HP heavy-fuel (JP5, JP8, Jet A) rotary engine, utilizing an electrically driven ducted tail rotor, powered by an onboard starter/generator. This configuration saves weight and mechanical complexity. The overall fuselage length is 112 inches with a rotor diameter of 109 inches. CybAero utilizes a foldable tri-blade system making the Vantage HMMWV-transportable. It has a gross weight of 380 lb., and a payload capacity of 25 35 lb. The UAV has an estimated endurance of 3 5 hours with a top (dash) speed of 100 kts, along with a service ceiling of 8,000 feet. The concept was the brainchild of the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), while the Vantage project now continues as a collaboration between NRL and CybAero under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. NRL has in-depth experience in designing and developing UAV prototypes and has been conducting research in unmanned systems technologies since the mid 1970s. CybAero now holds the exclusive commercial rights for Vantage worldwide. In February 2008 the Vantage's first test flight, under the NRL/CybAero agreement, took place on a restricted range near NRL's Washington DC facility in the USA. The rotor uses seals as the equivalent of piston rings, including apex seals at the points of the rotor and side seals on the sides. RotaMax opines that Wankel engines are inherently smoother and easier to balance because of the rotary operation. For the same output as a piston engine, a Wankel will generally be smaller and lighter and will have far fewer parts, particularly moving parts. In certain applications even in the 1970s, for the power produced in the application the rotary had and has favorable fuel economy. Because it has a four-stroke cycle, the rotary can use the same performance tuning operations, external accessories, and emissions control devices as a conventional engine. RotaMax has particularly high hopes for their future aviation offerings. They note that 'Aviation Enthusiasts are always searching for more power! But, they want it with lower emissions, lower vibration, higher power-to-weight, smaller package. We are currently working with several manufacturers designing next generation aircraft for the RotaMax Rotary Engine.' Though currently not certified, RotaMax explains that they are doing the work necessary to assure that their twin-spark, twin ignition engines will conform to the ASTM E-LSA, S-LSA, LSA protocols... and with enough time and experience, General Aviation Certification. They feel they have an interesting powerplant for a number of air vehicles... be they airships, blimps, gyrocopters, fixed wings, floatplanes or seaplanes, Ultralights, Light Sport Aircraft (S-SLA), Experimental, Homebuilt Kits, or Helicopters. The US Army Gets Some Serious Bang For The Buck Via AVCATT Outside of military circles, you are unlikely to have heard of AVCATT... one of the Army's most aggressive efforts yet to maximize the realism and mobility of one of its most crucial flight training and simulation efforts. AVCATT? What the hell is an AVCATT, you might ask? Well, the military DOES love its acronyms, but this one packs some punch as AVCATT stands for Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (Army). The AVCATT mission is a hefty one... 'To provide a collective training capability for Army aviators across the entire fleet of Army rotary wing aircraft.' That acronym barely hints at the raw capability of the AVCATT program, as the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer has become the Army's (AVCATT) preeminent mobile, reconfigurable, aviation-based collective trainer. The Army tells ANN that each monstrous (but incredibly well-organized) AVCATT trailer supports three manned modules (cockpits), with an After Action Review (AAR) theater and a battle master control. Not Just Another Pretty Set Of Rotors While perusing the wares at HAI 2008, we had the chance to catch up with a helicopter that, frankly, rarely seems to get the attention it deserves. Enstrom's 480B, a carefully updated and accomplished turbine helicopter may be one of the industry's best kept secrets but we're pleased to see that the secret seems to be finally giving way to more attention for a solid rotorcraft. Enstrom tells us that the 480 series was developed to provide a more affordable, but equally competent, light turbine helicopter to a market historically dominated by the Bell 206B Jet Ranger and MD500. A thorough development program, which included three test aircraft and over 1500 hours of flight verification, led to FAA certification to FAR 27 standards in 1994. FAR 27 is a more current and rigorous certification basis than that achieved by the competitors in this class. The moist recent iteration, the 480B series, has now been certified in 16 countries and has already been operated in 18 countries.
