B'Tselem: Life in a Cave – Hebron
from Metacafe - Today's Videos by Metacafe May 06, 2008
In January 2007, B'Tselem launched "Shooting Back", a video advocacy project focusing on the Occupied Territories. We provide Palestinians living in high-conflict areas with video cameras, with the goal of bringing the reality of their lives under occupation to the attention of the Israeli and international public, exposing and seeking redress for violations of human rights. The Rashid family lives in a cave in the village of Haribat a-Nabi in the Southern Hebron Hills – right next to the Separation Barrier. In September 2007 The family made a video tape to introduce Israelis to their home and way of life. The tape also presents one of the children reading a letter to Israelis, and soldiers detaining farmers near the cave during the month of Ramadan, captured on film by the children. www.btselem.org

B'Tselem: Settler vandalizes trees of Palestinian – Hebron
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 04, 2008
The army has fenced off the farmland of Khalifah Da'neh, a Palestinian resident of the Hebron District, attaching it to the lands of the adjacent settlement Givat Haharsinah. On the morning of 5 February 2008, a settler drove his car onto the farmland, began to cut off branches of fruit trees. Da'neh stood startled on the other side of the fence, unable to do anything about it. He filmed the incident in its entirety. Da'neh handed the video film over to the police, with whom he filed a complaint. Israel fenced and attached Da'neh s land to the settlement in 2004, classifying it a special security zone. The state promised the High Court of Justice that it would enable Palestinian farmers free entry to their fenced land, and would prohibit settlers from entering. The Da'neh case shows that the reality is just the opposite: absurdly, Israel does not permit entry of Palestinian landowners to special security zones, yet enables settlers to enter the land as they wish. www.btselem.org

Walk a few minutes in their shoes, part one
from YouTube :: Tag // newyork January 24, 2008
This short series of combat quality video clips is meant to give the viewer just a small glimpse into what the Jewish Community of Hebron and Kiriat Arba have gone through at the hands of their Palestinian "neighbors". These videos are not for the faint of heart. It shows Jewish men, women, and children deliberately being targeted by Palestinian terror groups who attempted to, once again, wipe out the Jewish community of Hebron. The sad part of this documentary is that the Palestinian terror groups worked with the full cooperation and consent of the "peaceful" Palestinian population of Hebron...the same "peaceful" population that danced in joy when the Twin Towers in New York were destroyed. This documentary does not pretend to be objective...it is only intended to allow the viewer to experience a small part of what the Jewish Community of Hebron has gone through, time and time again...they don't want you to walk a mile in their shoes (it might prove fatal for you), they want you only to try and understand where they are coming from and then ask yourself, in all honesty, what you would do...what you would feel, if your home town—and you children—were subjected to this, day after day. UNICEF: Palestinian children face educational challenges
from - blip.tv (beta) October 11, 2007
HEBRON, Occupied Palestinian Territory, 5 October 2007 -- Ongoing conflict poses threats to the education of Palestinian children. Not only is safe access to school often jeopardized, but it is hard for them to thrive once they get into the classroom.As part of a back-to-school campaign, UNICEF -- with the support of the Saudi Committee for Relief of Palestinian People, and the Government of the Netherlands -- has provided almost 40,000 remedial worksheets and 1,500 math and science kits, and has distributed more than 50,000 school bags and 275 school uniforms. This support is aimed at improving the quality of education and ensuring that all children remain in school."Going back to school is very important for children, mainly for girls -- it brings a sense of normality in their lives in an abnormal context," said UNICEF's Project Officer in Hebron, Wafa Obeidat.To read the full story, visit: http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/oPt_41130.html

Israeli army evicts dozens of Hebron settlers
from Revver - muslim Videos August 25, 2007
Author: realnews Added: Sat, 25 Aug 2007 19:19:08 -0800 Duration: 125Ultra-religious Jewish families had illegally squatted in barricaded apartments in city's market area Tuesday August 7th, 2007 Today in Hebron, Israeli troops used sledgehammers to smash through welded doors and concrete bunkers to get at Jewish settlers who threw stones and poured oil and water on them. The settlers had claimed ownership of two houses. Dozens of settlers and soldiers were slightly injured in the melee. Hundreds of thousands of other Israelis remain in illegal settlements in the West Bank. They were established after Israel began its occupation of the territory in 1967 following the Six Day War. Hebron is home to about 150,000 Palestinian Muslims and Christians as well as 700 ultra-religious Israeli settlers who are often heavely armed. Prior to riots in 1929, there was a Jewish Quarter in biblical Hebron. Twelve orthodox soldiers who had refused to take part in today's operation were earlier sentenced to 28 days in jail. The evictions came one day after the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas met for three hours in the West Bank town of Jericho. In a deal with the Palestinian Authority, Israel agreed to evacuate 80 percent of Jewish settlers from Hebron in 1997. But Israel kept control of Hebron's market. It has been a closed military zone since 1994 when a Jewish extremist, Baruch Goldstein, shot and killed 29 Palestinians at the Tomb of the Patriarchs, sacred to both Muslims and Jews. APTN cameras recorded today's drama as it began just after sunrise and ended about three hours later. --Sent via http://heyspread.com : Upload videos to multiple sites quickly
