Ms. Maggi Ann Grace author of State of the Heart: A Medical Tourist's True Story of Lifesaving Surgery in India is a writer, editor and visual artist, living in Carrboro, North Carolina. In 2004 she accompanied Howard Staab to New Delhi to receive the heart surgery he could not afford in the U.S. In 2006 she and Howard traveled to Washington, D.C. to testify before the U.S. Senate subcommittee on Aging about their experience in India and the state of health care in the U.S Touring with her book over the past several months has also included speaking about the outsourcing of medical care to a wide variety of audiences, including senior centers, libraries, community events, the International Medical Tourism Forum in Goa, India, the Health Care Globalization Summit in Las Vegas, Harvard Medical School, as well as delivering the keynote address at the World Congress of Healthâs Forum on Medical Tourism in D.C.
