Swimming With Dolphins
from headsoff June 02, 2008
After the horses we decided why not step it up a notch and try riding a dolphin? unfortunately, we weren't allowed to have video DURING the experience since they make a killing off selling photos by what they call their "mexican paparazi" (one of which is featured below, the one and only that we purchased). But you can still see some dolphins :-) Click here for Quicktime movie (in a new window) Runtime is a minute and a half tags technorati : Puerto Vallarta Mexico vacation dolphins swimming with dolphins sun headsoff Serra Shiflett

El jinete
from headsoff June 02, 2008
I did a lot of horse-related activities as a kid, first attending and then counseling at a horse day camp and working at the ranch in exchange for lessons. During my years of chemo and weakened immune systems, I was technically not allowed to go back to work with horses, and since I've been in Boston I've realized that I miss them! So, when presented with a chance to go on a multi-hour trail ride that included breakfast, lunch, and swimming in a waterfall for just under $50 each we decided why the heck not?? Bucerias
from headsoff June 02, 2008
This is some footage from the town an hour up the coast from us that was slightly less tourist-focused, but still pretty crazy. One thing about Puerto Vallarta itself is that its ALL about the time shares. You can't walk 4 steps without being acausted by yet another guy trying to take you on a time share tour, but not saying so up front. Well, we were actually invited into the restaurant in this video and were at first like "no, we're not interested" because we thought it was a time share. When he said he was just inviting us into his restaurant we decided to give it a shot. We were, after all, looking for a place to eat. But once we were settled in, he came up trying to get us to go on a time share tour! I guess the restaurants have some kind of symbiotic relationship with the time share guys. It does bring in business! The irony to all this is that on our last day there, we had a few hours to kill between checking out of the resort and catching our plane home so we actually TRIED to go on a time share tour, figuring if we could make a couple hundred bucks in our down time then why not? As it turns out, after ALL that hounding, we're not even eligible to go on the tour because we're not over 30! You'd think they'd get that out of the way right up front... hah! Chad and I went on our fi..
from headsoff June 02, 2008
Chad and I went on our first vacation together that didn't involve visiting friends or family... just taking time to relax. We got to use a week of his parents' time share, and decided to trade into a spot in Mexico. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the time shares in Mexico all tended to be pretty ritzy, and in the middle of tons of other crazy resorts. I'll post a series of videos but this one is just about the resort... Veggie Oil Filtration
from headsoff July 13, 2007
I had an e-mail glitch and didnt get notified about comments for the last post, so I sincerely apologize for those who commented and got ignored! As predicted, here's our very elementary video on figuring out the sock filter system of oil cleansing. Its probably too long, and definitely too dark, but amazingly simple! For those of you out there wondering if SVO is too much hassle, take a look and see what you think... VeggieOil Pickup
from headsoff June 03, 2007
Still thinking about converting to SVO, and Chad just put a deposit down on a VW Rabbit that has been converted already. So I called up the Green Grease Monkey guys and asked if they'd let me tag along while they collect waste veggie oil and show me the ropes. The restaraunt we will be collecting from for our car(s) will be considerably more straightforward than the footage you are about to see. Since it's a smaller restaraunt, they won't have the huge drums and all we will have to do is walk in and carry out already-filled cubes of oil! Next lesson will have to be setting up a filtration system at home... Road Node 101::Update
from Vlog of a Faux Journalist August 26, 2006
Vlog News: In the newest, coolest news, I'm vlogging with Markus Sandy and Dave Toole @ SpinFlow. Guess this is a disclosure. SpinXpress supports The Faux Press' endeavors in every way imaginable. In return, I support them. It's a marriage of aesthetics. SpinFlow will have a debut soon. I'll let you know when they feel the site is ready to fly. Notes About Road Node 101. So much to say. First, some business. Node 101 contributed $300 toward Node 101 / Meet the Vlogger / Vlogger Meetup events expenses from what it earned producing Vloggercon. I've a responsibility to report how it was spent. $150 was spent on food for the Minnesota Vlogger Meetup. Video (including what we got for our money) here. Still await an invoice from Adam to ship to Schlomo for his records. While I told Adam that Node 101 would cover expenses up to $200 / event I hadn't really intended to spend this much on that one evening. Oops. That said, you'll see that Crow River Coffee made a pretty incredible spread for the 5 folks (not including the kids) that showed up. $150 was spent to feed folks at Off-the-grid Geek Camp. Watch Me 16mm
from headsoff February 16, 2006
I'm taking a film class this semester. yeah - film, not video. I've never worked with film before and its a little wild. I thought I'd show you my first creation. It's based on a funny little children's book called "Watch me", in which the character (a young child) begs her parents to watch as she slides, jumps, rides a bike, etc. At the end there is a bike crash. I have changed the story a bit in places. Well - ok it really isn't the same story, but it was fun anyways. December snow, and why I haven't posted in a while
from headsoff December 07, 2005
As some of you have noticed, I haven't posted anything in a while. I think about it a lot, and even take some footage here and there, but its the end of the semester and I have a documentary to edit (finally done shooting thank god) and my master's project to brush up, and work is picking up again for some unknown reason, and I'm starting an internship... I know, this is a lame excuse. So here, I have edited together some footage for you from my commute in to Emerson. Thanks for your encouragement and support. Trick Or Treat
from headsoff November 02, 2005
Here is our first somewhat invented video blog. Mike and Joe take our friend Laura trick-or-treating in order to get candy for us to give out to trick-or-treaters. The people giving her candy have no idea what they're up to. We're thinking of leaving notes on their doors with the vlog address... maybe we'll gain some new viewers that way? ;-) If you are one of the very kind people who gave us candy, please leave a comment and let us know what you think! Don't worry - we did actually buy most of the candy we gave out ;-) Click here for Quicktime movie (in a new window) Runtime is 4:36

Road Node 101::Reflections Wat...
from Vlog of a Faux Journalist October 19, 2005
Road Node 101::Reflections Watch the video While this video is a reflection upon Road Node 101 taken the last day officially on the tour, that doesn't mean there aren't a bunch of vids in process. Just wanted to post this wrap-up piece for its immediacy. What a trip it was! The network is strong. Stronger than imagined. And replete with mutual support. The urgency we feel to get the word out sooner is palpable and real. The need to teach folks to create media, important. When you create it, you begin to understand its complex power. Perhaps that's why I stopped consuming popular media for ten years just as I began to work in the film industry. In the end, I remain hugely optimistic about human nature and filled with hope for the future, for WE ARE THE MEDIA, and media is powerful when used as a tool. Work hard; use the proper tools. _______ replete adj 1: filled to satisfaction with food or drink; a full stomach [syn: full, replete(p)] 2: (followed by `with')deeply filled or permeated; imbued with the spirit of the Reformation ; words instinct with love ; it is replete with misery [syn: instinct(p), replete(p)] v : fill to satisfaction; I am sated [syn: satiate, sate, fill]
