Using Photographs to Enhance Videos of a Static Scene
from Vimeo / Videos JD likes August 23, 2008
*Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments. They are really encouraging.* The work presents a system for automatically producing a wide variety of video enhancements and visual effects. Unlike traditional visual effects software (e.g., After Effects, Shake, Boujou, etc), the system is completely automatic and no manual labor is required from the user. The major limitation of the work is that it can currently handle only videos of static scenes (i.e., videos shot with a moving camera but containing no moving objects in the scene). Efforts are being made to lift this restriction in future work. Applications of the system include: High resolution/definition video, High dynamic range video, Removing objects from a video, Creating painterly (NPR) videos, Video stabilization, Easy video editing Project website: grail.cs.washington.edu/projects/videoenhancement/videoEnhancement.htm Cast: pro

HD: Mililani Town Center
from HawaiiVog December 29, 2007
Mililani Town Center from hawaii on Vimeo. These are the first video clips taken with my new Sanyo Xacti HD700, which records high-definition (720p) video in Mac-friendly H.264 MPEG-4 format. Low light is actually one of the weaknesses of the Xacti, so this after-sunset walkabout was a good test. The above is the embedded video player from Vimeo, one of the only online video hosts to serve up HD content. To see the HD video (and not a scaled and compressed Flash version), however, you need to view it at Vimeo or download the original movie file (1250x720/71MB/MP4). It should look great on an Apple TV. Windows devotees and DivX lovers can find this video at Studio6. You can also view compressed but fast-loading Flash versions of this video at YouTube, Google Video, and BlipTV. Subscribe to the HawaiiVog video podcast via iTunes, or in the media aggregator of your choice via RSS. hawaii appletv hd hdvideo xacti hd700 video mililani
