The "Alter Ego" dance from "Cover Girl" (1944) is one of film's most famous dance numbers. Gene Kelly and his 19 year-old assistant/business partner Stanley Donen received almost complete control over the making of this film that launched Gene as a star. Gene choreographed the "Alter Ego" dance while young Stanley was responsible for inventing the far-ahead-of-their-time technical tricks that made the film sequence possible. The dance is also sometimes called the "Mirror Image" or "Reflection" dance. Stanley and Gene later co-directed "On the Town" and "Singing in the Rain." Stanley went on to direct and choreograph many films and was responsible for Fred Astaire's famous ceiling dance in "Royal Wedding." This video contains two clips.
