Après deux albums studios (Gov't Mule et Dose), ils décident cependant de se consacrer à plein temps à Gov't Mule et quittent le Allman Brothers Band le 26 mars 1997.En août 2000, Allen Woody décède. Warren Haynes et Matt Abts envisagent un moment de dissoudre le groupe, mais décident finalement de continuer. Ils enregistrent en hommage à Allen Woody deux albums studios (The Deep End volume 1 & 2) sur lesquels sont invités vingt-cinq bassistes différents, sélectionnés parmi les préférés de leur compagnon disparu. Mike Gordon, bassiste de Phish, filme les sessions d'enregistrement, ce qui aboutira au documentaire Rising Low.C'est finalement Andy Hess qui devient, en 2004, le nouveau bassiste permanent du groupe. This film tells the story of Julian Haynes and his large wooden pyramid, floating on the Amazon River. The ambitious Pyramid Project has a sevenfold mission, all to bring about positive changes in the local community of Iquitos(Peru) as well as in the world at large. A brief clip of one of my favourite shows. I JUST ordered it off of Amazon, apparently they're remaking it ala The Office. This show is just too good, although made in 1999 depicting two lazy slacker twenty somethings, it's still awesome and relevant to lazy slacker twenty somethings today.
