宫崎俊的才华，通过风之谷，千与千寻等让全世界都认识了这位了不起的动画大师，可是也许大家都不清楚他实际上是用什么来作画的，尤其今天的电脑时代，和各种软件的开发，已经达到了非常普及的程度，而这位備受尊崇的日本動畫導演却在日前表示將堅持用鉛筆作畫，拒絕使用電腦繪製。这一消息传出，大家都对这位大师的技术与性格啧啧称奇 宮崎駿的最新力作《懸崖上的金魚姬》在日本票房創下佳績，已成為日本最受歡迎的電影之一。電影靈感來自於安徒生的童話故事《小美人魚》（The Little Mermaid）。內容在講述小金魚波妞巧遇五歲的男孩宗介，並因為喜歡上宗介而想變成人類的故事。電影中所有畫面都是人工手繪。這位滿頭銀髮、份外害羞的動畫家表示:「我覺得動畫是一種需要鉛筆，需要人的畫手的創作，所以我決定用這種方式。」宮崎駿原本在學校念的是政治經濟學系，在學期間對兒童文學發展出濃厚的興趣。 大學畢業後，宮崎駿來到東映動畫工作，初到東映的宮崎駿並不順利，經歷了不少挫折，他提出的一些策劃案常常被束之高閣，但是宮崎駿依然堅持自己的風格和信念。直到1985年終於建立了獨立的吉卜力工作室。雖然多次盛傳要退休，但在眾人的期盼下，宮崎駿還是接連的推出了新作品。宮崎駿曾在2003年以《神隱少女》 (Spirited Away)一片獲得奧斯卡金像獎的最佳影片獎。而在日本過去七年最賣座的五部電影中，宮崎駿執導的電影就佔了三部。《懸崖上的金魚姬》有宮崎駿一貫把魔法融入日常生活的作風，早先在影展上放映時就廣受好評。雖然宮崎駿的作品在海外的成績並不如在日本理想，但這次他採用西洋經典安徒生童話故事，配上日本現代的環境，希望能迎合世上每個人的口味。雖然卡通主要是畫給小孩子看的，但他並沒有針對特別的觀眾族群。《好萊塢報導》評為這是部是能讓三到一百歲的人歡樂、非常有吸引力的作品。《懸崖上的金魚姬》雖然入圍第65屆的威尼斯國際影展，但遺憾的是與其他兩部同樣入圍的日片-押井守監督的《The Sky Crawlers》和北野武所執導的《阿基里斯與龜》一樣，均未能奪得「金獅獎」。 ------------------------------- Revered Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki has no intention of swapping his pencil for computer graphics and will keep hand drawing his films for as long as he can, he said on Sunday (August 31). Miyazaki's new animation "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea", already a big box office success in his home country, is vying for top prize at the Venice film festival, where the Oscar-winning director received a career award in 2005. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale "The Little Mermaid", the film tells the story of a little goldfish who longs to become a human to be with her love, five-year-old boy Sosuke. It uses hand-drawn art throughout. "I think animation is something that needs the pencil, needs man's drawing hand, and that is why I decided to do this work in this way," the silver haired, notoriously shy director told reporters after a press screening. An economics and politics graduate who developed an interest in children's literature at university, Miyazaki toiled over hand drawings for Japan's Toei Animation before creating Studio Ghibli, which he still heads despite repeated announcements of his retirement, in 1985. Early reviews of Ponyo, which features Miyazaki's trademark blend of the everyday and magic, were full of praise and the film was warmly applauded in Venice. "It is a work of great fantasy and charm that will delight children ages 3 to 100," wrote the Hollywood Reporter, adding: "Excellent commercial prospects loom." Miyazaki, who won an Academy Award for best animated film in 2003 with "Spirited Away", has directed three of the top five selling movies in Japan in the past seven years. Ponyo, released in its home market last month, has already become one of Japan's most popular movies. Miyazaki's films have often failed to match that success abroad,although he has a cult-like following among fans of the animation genre. He said that by placing a Western classic like Andersen's tale in a contemporary Japanese setting, Ponyo "appeals to anybody in the world" and that, while it was primarily meant for children, he had not targeted a particular audience. Japan looms large over the Venice film festival this year, with another animation film, "The Sky Crawlers" by Mamoru Oshii, and Takeshi Kitano's "Achilles and the Tortoise" also featuring in the main competition of 21 titles. Two young girls, Satsuki and Mei, have just moved into a new home in the country while their sick mother remains in hospital. To their surprise they find that they share this home with some rather unusual creatures, when they stumble into the hollow of a huge tree and meet a giant furry character called Totoro. Totoro and his friends cannot be seen by adults, only by the children who have the capacity to believe in them. All is well with the two young girls until a telegram arrives from the hospital: their mother won t be visiting them as planned. Adventure presides when Mei decides to run off to Shichikokuyama Hospital, with some corn that she picked from the neighbor s garden. Totoro is called to the rescue when trouble occurs.

Been working on this like a mad woman since Monday. This is a request for Crumpton who, if I remember correctly, said it didn't matter with what, he just wanted a video with this song. I love this song but could not figure out what media to do it with even though it fit a lot of places. When I received two more Miyazaki films for Christmas I got the idea to do this! I like how it turned out for the most part, there was a lot of switching around in an attempt to keep things balanced. Unfortunately when I burned my Princess Mononoke DVD no matter how many times and in different formats it would give me an error message and abort so I only ended up with about 2/3rds of it and not in great quality which sucks cause it would really fit to this song and is one of my favorite movies of all time.
