Michele Cameron, MOMENTS OF CLARITY... author: Mr. Media InterviewMichele Cameron, MOMENTS OF CLARITY... author: Mr. Media Interview
from Mr. Media
October 09, 2008

Romance is the top genre in fiction with more than $1.47 billion dollars in sales for 2007. The average romance reader is voracious and goes through 6-7 books per month. Within the genre, there are many specializations, including tonight’s topic: romance novels written by and for African-American readers. My guest is Michele Cameron, author of Never Say Never and the hot-off-the-press Moments of Clarity… Also joining us is her editor at Genesis Press, Deborah Schumacher. Deborah is a published author herself; her novel, The Air Between Us was published earlier this year under her pen name, Deborah Johnson, by HarperCollins. David Wroblewski with Lynn Rosen (BEA) on The Story of Edgar SawtellDavid Wroblewski with Lynn Rosen (BEA) on The Story of Edgar Sawtell
from BookShorts TV
July 01, 2008

www.movingstories.tv -- the first in our series of interviews from BookExpo America 2008, our BEA host LYNN ROSEN speaks with this summer's hot find, DAVID WROBLEWSKI about his first novel, ten years in the making -- THE STORY OF EDGAR SAWTELL. This an excerpt from Lynn's blog ... about the pivot from private to *way* public ... "how arbitrary such boundaries are, between the work-in-progress and the work that is "done." It's never done. You could always do more. But nevertheless, you're finished with it, and it becomes this beautiful, foreign artifact that looks nothing like the stack of laser printer paper you've lived with for so long. Just when it becomes perfectly real to everyone else, it looks least like what you've known it to be as the writer. Keith Olbermann's Rupert Murdoch Imitation Involves Gawker, Pirates [Feuds]Keith Olbermann's Rupert Murdoch Imitation Involves Gawker, Pirates [Feuds]
from Gawker
June 05, 2008

Looking for a decent excuse to advance his long-simmering feud with Rupert Murdoch and to do a weird Australian/pirate accent, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann seized upon the words of a former News Corp. insider, who claimed in one of our posts this morning that Murdoch fired Jane Friedman from HarperCollins because she canned powerhouse publisher Judith Regan in late 2006, and also because she squashed Regan's OJ Simpson book project. The source also claimed, tangentially and outlandishly, that Fox News chief Roger Ailes will soon be fired as well for his own role in the Simpson book fiasco. Predictably, this amused Olbermann to no end. For the crime of going to bat for the OJ book, Olbermann named Murdoch today's "worst person in the world," an honor previously bestowed to Fox News screamer Bill O'Reilly. He then did a killer Murdoch imitation that will surely put to rest those allegations that he's totally crazy. Clip after the jump. (Thanks to RavingRabbid and Anthony for the tips.)
