Colorful coil act called 'straight-up amazing' The Human Slinky was hard to miss as she performed in front of a crowd of 3,050 during the West Michigan Whitecaps game against the Fort Wayne Wizards. When I first saw it I thought it was pretty cool and weird at the same time, Haveman said. But overall it was pretty creative. The Human slinky, created by Ioan Veniamin Oprea in Romania, was a quadruped slinky that rolled, sprawled, spilled and danced across a platform to high-energy music. Yryna Yemengulova, 24, from the Ukraine, was the performer inside the Human Slinky. She is one of four people who travel around the world entertaining audiences in the coil contraption. The Human Slinky has appeared on David Letterman, The Late Show and The Comedy Channel, but this was the first time she has performed at a baseball game. The Human Slinky was definitely a unique form of entertainment said Abby Wiseman, 27, of Grand Rapids. It could've been more well-received with more people here, but it was definitely unique and interesting. Added Jill VanderEnde, 28, of Walker: She seemed passionate about what she was doing and it was a unique art form. The undulating coils of a slinky came to life as a colorful and comical illusion. It was straight-up amazing, said Ben Greenhoe, 22, of Ada. I want one. The Human Slinky is one of several acts the Whitecaps are bringing in this season as apart of Big Top Tuesdays. Rubberboy performed last month, and Mad Chad, who juggles chainsaws, is scheduled to appear Aug. 12. The main reason we went with her (Yemengulova) was because it was something new that we've never seen before, Whitecaps promotions coordinator Brian Oropallo said. That's what caught our eye, and we're just trying to get some new acts, more of the circus-type performers. It was a little different for her because she had never done a baseball game, but I thought it went really well. The fans seemed to enjoy it.
