The Calendar Songs project, http://www.calendarsongs.com, is an adventure in collaboration and remixing, featuring Calendar Girl's song-writing and vocal skills and a cast of hundreds of remixers.In "July (field mix)", musican and ccmixter gurdonark applied the abstract wonder of literal nature to the song, providing a backing chorus of a woodpecker, cardinals and a stray mockingbird or two, as well as a possible song sparrow or mountain bluebird or so. The rhythm track was created with a set of simple child-like hand percussion, processed through the Sawcutter 2.0 software synthesizer, http://www.cuttermusic.com.The single life is a kaleidoscope of hope, longing and fear. Although he is by time and circumstance happily removed from the sturm and drang of budding relationships, gurdonark instead brought to this film a literal love for an inexpensive kaleidoscope.
