Joseph Stalin: The Man of Steel (1879-1953) -One of the most powerful and murderous dictators in history, Stalin was the Supreme Ruler of the Soviet Union for a quarter of a century. His regime of terror caused the death and suffering of tens of millions(±40), but he also oversaw the war machine that played a key role in the defeat of Nazism. Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili was born on 18 December 1879 in Gori, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian empire. His father was a cobbler and Stalin grew up in modest circumstances. He studied at a theological seminary where he began to read Marxist literature. He never graduated, instead devoting his time to the revolutionary movement against the Russian monarchy. He spent the next 15 years as an activist and on a number of occasions was arrested and exiled to Siberia. Stalin was not one of the decisive players in the Jewish Bolshevik seizure of power in 1917, but he soon rose through the ranks of the party. In 1922 he was made general secretary of the Communist Party, a post not considered particularly significant at the time but which gave him control over appointments and thus allowed him to build up a base of support. After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin promoted himself as his political heir and gradually outmaneuvered his rivals. By the late 1920s, Stalin was effectively the dictator of the Soviet Union. His forced collectivization of agriculture cost millions of lives, while his program of rapid industrialization achieved huge increases in Soviet productivity and economic growth but at great cost. Moreover, the population suffered immensely during the Great Terror of the 1930s, during which Stalin purged the party of 'enemies of the people', resulting in the execution of thousands and the exile of millions to the gulag system of slave labor camps. These purges severely depleted the Red Army, and despite repeated warnings, Stalin was ill prepared for Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941. His political future, and that of the Soviet Union, hung in the balance, but Stalin recovered to lead his country to victory. The human cost was enormous but that mattered little to him. After World War Two, the Soviet Union entered the nuclear age and ruled over an empire which included most of eastern Europe. Increasingly paranoid, Stalin died of a stroke on 5 March 1953. This is his story. "Concentration Camp in Denver!", says Recreate '68 members... Denver Detention Center Built w/ $500k FEDERAL FUNDS To House DNC Protesters - Police State 2.0 - BUILT SECRETLY, DENIED BY DENVER GOVT, EXPOSED BY WEARECHANGE.ORG, AIRED ON NBC DENVER. THIS IS THE ALL TOO COMMON BLUEPRINT FOR CHANGE IN AMERICA. DNC Protesters to be housed in concentration like encampment by the Denver Police so it may aid Government in controlling media coverage across America. Another Constitutional Right violated - for all the world to see. Freedom is losing it's place in America. To prepare for this in advance of any violence is a flagrant violation of the Constitution and a flagrant abuse of Police Government power to hamper peaceful protests. MR. & MRS. JOHN AND SALLY APPLE PIE - will be seeing the "sanitized version" when the DNC gets in full swing. More mainstream media manipulation by the corporatist s who have the politicians in their breast pockets.. An awful lot of behind the scenes covert planning had to go into the effecting of this DNC holding camp, as it isn't until now that it's existence surfaces - after the fact. Local design couldn't have contained it w/o exposure - this is from a much higher and more powerful body - the Feds. This should make people more cognizant of all the entrusted leaders around us. Author: documentarian Added: Mon, 07 Jan 2008 07:30:22 -0800 Duration: 160This feature-length documentary debates the implications and consequences of US military involvement in the world today. From an isolationist nation at the end of World War One, the US today has bases in over ninety countries. No other nation has been able to project military power as the US does today. But is such an involvement sustainable? Despite its might, the US is shrinking in terms of population and economic power in relation to the rest of the world. So, what would happen should the United States leave the international scene, and become again a "normal nation", a republic, and not an empire? To find an answer to this question, director and producer Mitch Anderson embarked on an investigative trip on four continents. The film is an in-depth investigation of how US foreign policy affects the lives of millions of people around the world. See more at Theworldwithoutus.com
