Gene Kelly - A Dance Tribute (The Original)

Gene Kelly - A Dance Tribute (The Original)

from - blip.tv (beta) on May 30, 2009

Eugene Curran "Gene" Kelly (August 23, 1912 ? February 2, 1996) was an American dancer, actor, singer, director, producer, and choreographer. A major exponent of 20th century filmed dance, Kelly was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks and the likeable characters that he played on screen. Although he is probably best known today for his performance in Singin' in the Rain, he was a dominant force in Hollywood musical films from the mid 1940s until their demise in the late 1950s. His many innovations transformed the Hollywood musical film, and he is credited with almost singlehandedly making the ballet form commercially acceptable to film audiences. Kelly was the recipient of an Academy Honorary Award in 1952 for his career achievements. He later received lifetime achievement awards in the Kennedy Center Honors, and from the Screen Actors Guild and American Film Institute; in 1999, the American Film Institute also numbered him 15th in their Greatest Male Stars of All Time list.

DDR-A-Thon Special 1: The Hardest 84 seconds

DDR-A-Thon Special 1: The Hardest 84 seconds

from B&BH on April 24, 2009
Duration: 113
This video is the first special video based on DDR-A-Thon 7 which took place on April 17th and 18th in Bloomington, IN at the Great-X-Scape. This video was chosen first mainly so I wouldn't have to hear this song again for the foreseeable future Originally, this video was going to be a normal replay of the tech exhibition that I did for the event. However, due to the tape used to record Friday's events being riddled with dropouts, plans changed slightly... (Note: Ho was able to record this and will put it up on http://www.youtube.com/indyddr)

Inland Empire Clip - Laura Dern

Inland Empire Clip - Laura Dern

from Favorites of zoetrope101 on February 08, 2009
Duration: 113
David Lynch is a master of defamiliarization. The dialogue here has been heard by almost anyone who grew up around poor people, but the genius of the scene is the way Laura Dern meters her speech. The words are stripped of their familiarity by the strange context and you begin to listen to them with fresh ears . You start to listen for meaning and implication instead of labeling it all white trash drama . The writing is great here, as well. Some strange word choices are thrown in that add to the idea (for those who have seen the movie) that Laura Dern is more intelligent than the monologue would lead you to believe...that she is somehow trapped into a certain way of life, or way of being that is not natural to her. Amazing stuff.
